Reptile Rescue Need Help

hello, well I rescued a boa and she was in sand, shes about 6 feet long or a little more. She has sand caked on the inside ridge of her mouth, ive been giveing her warm baths and she has gotten some off! I was wondering what the least harmfull way is that I can get the rest out of her mouth. I have gotten a little bit out with the end of a long q-tip. Anyone got any tips?

Oh my goodness, sounds like she may need a vet, if she has sand built up inside her mouth imagine what her little snake belly looks like...

yeah its horrable. I was thinking of helping before she goes to the vets if i could. She goes to the vets next week.

I would hold off on feeding until she visits the vet then, I don't know how to get stuck sand from the inside of her mouth and you could cause more damage while trying. Just keep her temps up and provide plenty of fresh water...she is probably stressed...what are her temps now? Do you know when the last time she ate was, what type of condition was she kept in before you received her?

I agree. Leave her alone. Sand is abrasive and the interior of the mouth could be easily damaged. Its also possible that there is some sort of infection that the sand is stuck to.

she is at around 90-95 basking side and around 75-80 in the cool side. As far as I know it she ate last month, im not going to try to feed till its cleared out. She was in sand when I got her. Shes on newspaper now.
