It was feeding day and tank cleaning day. So when I finished cleaning the first tank, I waited a bit (cleaned another cage) then went back and fed the first snake (get it? lol). Of course the snakes are all wiggly and cruisin' for food but just kept plugging away at my work.
I got to Rupperts cage and dropped in a just weaned F/T rat. He looked up a me like I was nuts and I just moved onto the next cage to clean. I didn't think anything of it and as I was wiping everything down, I noticed that Ruppert hadn't eaten his rat. He was about 4 inches from the rats nose with his tongue just flying in and out but he wouldn't strike it. (Now, mind you, this snake has NEVER EVER refused a meal...he's a glutton!) I thought, oh well, he's just not hungry...I went to take the rat out (quickly) and he struck that rat so fast that I almost wet my pants!! He must've came up at least a foot to grab it! Can you tell he's a bit spoiled and has to have mom feed him!? lol He never ceases to amze me!
