    Boa Bite

So i took my 8ft boa outside the other day like i do often and when she started heading for the plant bed i went to go pick her up.
I felt a weird rumble in what i thought was her stomach area and then BAM she turns around and gets me in the arm good.
She was feed a couple days before this.
Do you guys think the stomach rumble and the bite had anything to do each other.

A bite from an 8ft snake is not recommended! I think you should have given her a couple of more days before handling, if she was still digesting the meal she would want to be left alone, otherwise, giving her some outdoor excercise is good. How`s the wound?

    Re: Boa Bite

It wasnt my first time being bite so i didnt pull away so it didnt turn out too bad it was bleeding alot at first still. The wound its self isnt even picture worthy. Normally i would give her longer to digest but the heat tape went out in her tank(i fixed it as fast as possible) and it was a hot day so i wanted to warm her up outside while her cage was getting to temp.

    Re: Boa Bite

The 2 could have been related. And I would most likely guess it was digestation. None of my boas have ever done that but it is always a long period of time before handling. I guess with the tape out you had no choice.

Stefan (Murrindindi) has a fascination with bite wounds. EVERY bite is picture worthy to him . I'm sure he will tell you all about it.

I agree, probably digestion, especially if it had only been a few days. Understandable to get her outside though. I like to get my snakes in natural sunlight too, it brings out their best colors.

    Re: Boa Bite

Yeah, most likely related. I have never known that to happen in particular but it is possible. I am glad you are bite experienced and did not make it worse for both parties involved. I guess Stefan (Murrindindi) is rubbing off on me- the first thing I couold think about was "Hmm, I wonder if their will be pictures". Be cool and feel free to post photos of your big baby...and the bite, of course.
