So Sorry to Say.....

..that you won't be reading any more "juvenile hasn't eaten yet" threads!!!!!!
She finally ate last night. We didn't have to try any tricks or anything. We were going to try the indian pinkie thing, but we ended up going to petsmart, and you can't really get to the birds to get a feather. So we got a f/t fuzzy to try. I put her in a critter keeper, and held it in tongs for about 30 or so minutes. Then I dropped it in a corner, i believe on accident, and she went towards it, and put her nose on it. Then she slithered away from it. So I picked it up again, and tried to get her to take it. I dropped it in another corner, and she went towards it again. She went nose to nose with on her own!!!! The she pulled away from it again. So I got and went in the other room. I looked at her a minute later, and she had her mouth on it!!!!! She had trouble figuring out what to do with it, and how to hold it and eat it. It took her a while, but she finally got it down!!!!! So far she has kept it down, my fingers are crossed that she can digest it with out problems, and that she survives the meal.
So...not only did she finally eat, but it was a f/t, which hopefully she'll keep eating!!!!
Here are some pictures that I took of her eating (the last one is Kayne, my boa constrictor imperator, eating a hopper, just thought I'd share since it is such a good pic):

Re: So Sorry to Say.....

Ha ha, I meant to fool ya! She has kept it down still, and is active. I caught her earlier either playing in the water, or drinking. She is very responsive, so hopefully everything will stay good.

Re: So Sorry to Say.....

Just as I hit send, I check on her and see that she has regurged.
Maybe it was too big? I guess I need to try a pinky next time? I know that I had to wait two weeks for boa constrictor imperator when he regurged, it is the same for her?
GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And things were starting to get better.........

Re: So Sorry to Say.....

Thats a shame to hear, I'd give it a week, then try again with a smaller food item, if it still won't eat, or regurges again, i'd suggest a vet visit, there may be a underlying problem.

Re: So Sorry to Say.....

Yes, wait about a week and try with a smaller pinky. A regurge is VERY stressful on a snake's system. Be sure to give her plenty of clean water and that the heating is at the proper level.
Stick to F/T now that you know she will take it. Make sure it is completely defrosted and warm. After she eats it, leave her alone with plenty of warmth and fresh water. Try not to look in on her too often.
Don't give up hope yet. It's a good sign that she's eaten once; it was probably just too much for her system to handle. Digestion is a race against time for snakes, as the mouse/rat starts rotting immediately in their bodies. They can't digest properly if they are too cold or stressed.
Keep trying! We're all hoping for the best!

Well you sure did!
I was afraid that it was going to be an "over the rainbow" thread!
It may have just been a bit much for her as a first meal. Her system may just not have been ready.
At least she took one. Wait 4-5 days and let her rest and try again with a smaller one.
