Hi all. I have noticed that my boas skin is looking kind of loose mostly around her lower jaw and mid section. She is about a year and a half and has no problems eating. She eats a medium rat every week with no problems. She doesn't seem unhealthy or unhappy. I am just kind of worried, it's also not something new I've noticed her skin always looked kind of loose but now that she's getting bigger I guess maybe it is more noticable. If anyone has anything to either put my mind at ease or to send me into panic mode, anything is appreciated.

How is her hydration? Does she have space to soak and drink?

Yeah the humidity in the tank is fine, and she has a water dish big enough to fit in. I also change the water regularly but she doesn't seem interested in soaking.

I notice that my boa gets loose skin a few weeks before she goes blue. She gets wrinkly and her belly feels rough.

Is she looking thin? Do you need to up her prey size? When she eats does she have a bulge in her belly?

miller pj, its funny you say that because her (my boa's) eyes turned just the other day, maybe its because she's bigger now and I never noticed the skin thing, and in response to schlegelbagel its not that she's thin: she's actually pretty bulky, you can definitely see the lump after she eats. I'm fairly confident the prey size is ok. She seems fine other than the skin thing. I've looked at pictures and haven't noticed the looseness on other snakes, it just kind of makes me concerned. Thanks for all the thoughts.

Once she completes her shed, let us know if she still looks loose. I know that when I see Mustache looking loose she sheds and then she looks good again.

Jade shed the other day and all is well, she looks good again. I also tried upping the humidity as well so between the 2 she looks good.
