Baby Updates!!!

Hey there guys!
Just writting to update you all on my babies.
Two of them have shed at 11 days of age.
They are perfect sheds, eye caps and all intact, woo hoo!!!
I'm not sure which ones have acutally shed, and I'm not sure how to find out.
They all have blued so it is a matter of time when the other two will shed.
I sprayed them down today, as well as their substrate.
We had all four out yesterday, and the previously nippy one did great.
Not even a strike!!

Jasmine, their momma, is now blue and is eating very well.
Im excited to see what she will look like after her shed.
Yes, I will take pictures lol.

And now some questions:
Should I wait until the other two babies have shed before feeding them?
Is there a way to tell which ones have shed?
This isn't about the babies, but does anyone else have problems with their boas eating wet rats?
Kah won't even go near f/t mice that are wet. We bought him a pre-killed rat yesterday and he took that with no problem. We are going to set a frozen one out next feeding, and let it thaw on its own, insetad of using hot water, and see if he'll eat that.

Re: Baby Updates!!!

Congrats!! The easiest way to monitor multiple babies is to put them all in separate containers. You can monitor eating, shedding, pooping and whatever else you need to monitor Cant wait to see pics.

Re: Baby Updates!!!

Another baby has shed, or is shedding right now!!!! Woo hoo!
What is a good alternative to aquariums?
And how do you heat the other containers?

Re: Baby Updates!!!

You can use sterilite containers with some holes drilled in the sides and tops for air and you can use human heat pad as a heat source.

Re: Baby Updates!!!

Im not sure how big the babies are but you can get them in all different sizes. Papertowels are an easy way to monitor things, a hide, water etc.

Re: Baby Updates!!!

I use sterilites. They are just a few inches shy of the footprint of a 10 gallon tank but about 6 inches tall.
For babies I like to keep it simple. Newspaper substrate, water bowl and a hide.
One thing you need to be aware of with sterilites is that there is a spot on the long side of them that is loose enough that a determined snake could push its way thru. What I do is to attach the rough side of a peice of 2 inch wide velcro, lined up with the top and bottom and a long peice of the smoother part of the velcro that attaches to the top and goes over the edge to secure it to the bottom of the box. Somewhat like I have done with the corners of this tank and lid.

Re: Baby Updates!!!

You want the heating pad only under 1/3 of the enclosure. That way the baby can get off the pad if it wants to cool off. And make sure the pad doesn't have an automatic shut off.
