Force Feeding Take 1

K. Well we just finished force feeding Jasmine. It took a while. She just did not want that mouse. We finally got it down, but milking was an adventure. She kept trying to bring it back up. Eventually she took it all the way down, and we put her back in her tank. So far, no regurge, but we're keeping our fingers crossed. If she regurges, we are going to take her to the vet, so he can try, as he told us to bring her in if it didn't work.

I'll keep you guys posted as to what unfolds.

So you survived the first time!
If you got it all the way down it should stay there.

Re: Force Feeding Take 1

Well, she kept it down. If she hasnt regurgitated it by now, will she? Could she be laying on it if she did? I'm sure I would smell it right?

We used f/t, and it was way too "squishy". It was really hard to push on it without "popping" it. Monday we are going to get prekilled, and see if that's any better.

Oh I don't know if I told you guys how much she weighed, but it was around 5 3/4 lbs.

Thanks for the support!

Re: Force Feeding Take 1

I've not ever force-fed before either. I think I'll be just as nervous as you are if I ever have to! Congrats on the task! Maybe she will begin to eat on her own now that you've jump-started her. Let's hope...:-)

Re: Force Feeding Take 1

Force feeding is a nightmare, lol. I am glad that it worked out for you. If she was laying on it,, you would no doubt smell it, lol.

I have one that I am force feeding now but she is 15 pounds,, its like wrestling with an anaconda, lol. I hope it all works out for her and you!

Remember,, just dont handle her for a while.
