Re: Pictures and Questions

Thanks everyone for your compliments on her and advice. The tank is 2' x 3' and 18 inches high. We are planning to feed her frozen (warmed up). Will the infared bother her at night?

so boas dont need a red light? thats all i use for my boas.
do heat emitters make it warmer than the red bulbs?
As long as you are providing proper temps it doesn't matter which you use. Heat emitters emit only heat, no light, so they can be used day and night.
They also will last for years as opposed to having to replace those bulbs every few weeks.

You do need a source of light so the boa has a day night cycle but it can be as simple as the light in the room.

Re: Pictures and Questions

well, like I said, itīs an option, if you use pinkies they are not going to harm your sneak, but the frozen ones works good.
what kind of substrate do you have???? I use warm pads with desert sand, special for sandfish skinks, but if do you have leaves or something like that, better donīt use it inside.
wish you the best

Re: Pictures and Questions

I would advise against using a heat pad inside the tank with any animal. And if im not mistaken, sandfish skinks will burrow into the sand. Coming into direct contact with a under the tank heating pad would burn them. They get HOT. If your curious about how hot they do get, pull it out, let it warm up all the way, and place your hand on it.
Additionaly, while it is unlikely a pinkie will harm your snake, its better to get them switched to frozen/thawed food now, rather then later. This is a snake that will be eating Large Adult Rats. Have you seen the teeth on one of those rats.
Additionaly, there is a higher chance of passing any parasites or other nasties to your snake feeding live, even with pinkies.
