Feeding Jasmine??

Would it be alright to feed Jasmine (pregnant Colombian Boa)?
We've tried before, but she wasn't interested at all.
She's been acting like shes hungry lately, although it could be shes just being really active.
I don't want her to be hungry and all while shes pregnant.
What should I do?

Re: Feeding Jasmine??

All you can do is offer it to her. You cant make her eat. Give at least 3-4 days between offerings though.

Yep, what she said! lol. Though I would only try once a week.
Just offer and see what happens.

Re: Feeding Jasmine??

i agree with the once a week. she may be feeling too lethargic or vulnerable while full of eggs to want to feed. if she was good and fat beforehand she may finish the pregnancy on fast. how far along is she? if youre expecting eggs within a few weeks there I dont believe there is any emergent need to make her eat

Re: Feeding Jasmine??

ok seriously, does anyone read anything??
boas DONT HAVE EGGS!!!
and I dont know how far along she is, because we bought her after her pos.

haha merlin! I think I'll try to feed her tomorrow.
I'm thinking not, but is there any way that attempting to feed her will stress her out?

Re: Feeding Jasmine??

You could try feeding but if you do offer a item only half of normal. Larger food items can cause boas to birth a few days to a week before the young are fully developed though this is normally not a problem it's been known to happen.

sorry, that was a mistake, i actually did know they have live birth but wasnt thinking. i still say offering her a fk meal will be fine. if she wants it shell down it, if not, when you check back after a few just put her back in the viv.

LOL! Everyone is right! Boas DO have eggs and have live birth!
Its just that the eggs are held in the body until they hatch and then the babies are born.
It CAN get confusing.

Re: Feeding Jasmine??

i knew that, but to me when I see eggs and boas, im thinking ppl are sayind the lay them lol.
so are the eggs reabsorbed? ive read that before the birth the boa will reabsorb a lot of the liquid inside, and she will shrink
