Newb Worries?

I noticed my boa's eyes getting cloudy about 11 to 12 days ago...
It's eyes become clear again about 3 to 4 days ago...
But my snake still hasnt shed...

The humidity has been at 50 -60 the entire time and I've just left it alone (handling wise) since I noticed its eyes cloud...
Is this normal.... should it have shed by now? or am I just being impatient?

I've read around the forums that some people will "bath" it or spray it down..
should I be doing any of this?
I tend to over worry about my pets
sooo... I'm sorry if I sound ridiculous but I want whats best for my little friend

Re: Newb Worries?

i wouldnt worry sometimes my boa takes a while to shed also, its good that youre not handling until a few hours after the shed, the bath might help but I wouldnt really be too worried if I were you. Im the same way tho, if something doesnt happen just like it should with my snakes I go crazy... just gotta tell myself to relax

Re: Newb Worries?

It wont hurt to use a garden sprayer to mist the snake, every little bit of humidity helps.

Re: Newb Worries?

Your time line for eyes being cloudy then clearing up sounds right on to me. With my boa, as soon as her eyes cleared, Id give her a nice long warm bath. And leave it at that, and she would shed just fine all in one peice. I do the same for my Ball python and My burmese python... Misting is ok too, but Ive had a few snakes come in with scale rot due to misting and them staying too wet. So if you mist, make sure their substrate doesnt become soaked. I dont know how new you are, but some people will think/tell you (but not on here lol) that snake shed then ate the shed. I dont know of a snake yet that eats its shed... yuk... anyways hope this helps!

I concur. Your snake will shed anytime now.
Misting is a good thing.

Re: Newb Worries?

how old is ur boa? when hatchlings all snakes tend to shed very shortly after going blue and claring up again (my CRTB takes 1 day.... but he has issues, he usually needs assistance....) if older snakes will tend to slow down EVERYTHING. feeding, shedding, u name it. i also have an older corn who takes almost a week after blue to actually shed.

variability is expected. and personally, im a believer in the natural (which many people disagree with). these animals take care of all of these things in the wild. we can try to provide for them an ideaty, that is all. the wonderful thing about snakes is they have alot of lax room. they can go weeks without eating, and strees = non-eating, so you have time to figure out what your little friend needs

Re: Newb Worries?

I was too, but that was because mine has a history of rough sheds..... IMO boa's tend to look about the worst when going through a shed..... post up when it happens so we know everything is ok
