Open Mouth?

I noticed yesturday that Keasby was keeping his mouth slightly open when I was handiling him. And every 20 or 30 seconds he would kinda yawn. Is he streching. Showin off his fangs, or could he be having respritory problems??

Re: Open Mouth?

Do you hear any wheezing or popping? Have you fed him lately? He might be trying to realign his jaw.

Re: Open Mouth?

i havnt fed him lately but he also blows bubbles and I have heard a psh sound come from him before. I didn`t think it was a his is sounded more like a human blowing air out of tight lips(not a whistle or anything).

Re: Open Mouth?

I am no boa expert, but I do know that with my tortoises and the BP I used to have that blowing bubbles is not good, and he probably needs to get to a vet.

Re: Open Mouth?

Yea sometimes a URI is accompanied by the blowing of bubbles. I would suggest a vet visit to get some antiobitcs.

Re: Open Mouth?

Yeah I was hoping it wasn't a URI...I've only seen him blow a bubble like once, and the only sound i've heard was a hiss, haha and I know its a HISSssSS...hopefully he's okay, definatly going to watch that. What are other signs of a RI?

Re: Open Mouth?

With a URI time is of the essence. Get him to a vet now and save money in the long run.

Re: Open Mouth?

This is important, get the snake to a vet now!
The bubbling is RI in advanced stages!
You need to get him on antibiotics and bump the heat up a few degreees.

Re: Open Mouth?

Alright thanks. How does extra heat help. I can see how but I`d like to know the science behind it.
