Soon to Be Boa Owner.

So my wife and I have been talking and have decided that due to our budget somehow increasing (not that im complaining lol) that we can afford to add another addition to our house. We searched around and did a lot of research and feel that a boa would be a great addition to our family. I have a friend in Indianapolis that is a expierenced breeder and keeper of larger snakes. He houses a burmese, a retic, and just recently got a red tail female to breed. So he's gonna help me get a good priced columbian boa from the upcoming breeder convention at the fair grounds in indianapolis. He said he knows a few of them personally and can help find me what im looking for. Apparently they have this convention every 3rd sunday of the month depending on weather and the predicted outcome and so forth. Which would have been nice of him to inform me about a year ago when I first decided to begin housing snakes lol. Well anyways, he plans to meet with me on the 16th to go. Untill then i've been searching for a temporary enclosure untill I can begin building a permanent one. I've talked to a few people and all i've come up with is some 20L which we all know are pretty much useless in the snake world lol. But I came across someone who was willing to give me a glass jewelry display case that he modified slightly to house a rosy boa. I have emailed him several times and havent recieved a response back. So im wondering if its really a good idea to use a 20L temporarily? How long should I expect to house the boa in a 20L. My general plan was to find something to give me 3 or 4 months, just long enough to get all the supplies needed and get the enclosure built. And im new to boas but im thinking a 20L wouldn't give me the time needed to get the enclosure built.. but I figure, before I start to stress myself out before I even get the boa, i should ask for everyones opinions or ideas...

Re: Soon to Be Boa Owner.

It depends on the size of the snake when you get it. With a hatchling you could probably get away with a 20L for about a year unless you really cram the food to it(which is not advisable). That should give you plenty of time to build a bigger enclosure.

ok, well I plan on getting a hatchling, so a year is WAY better than I thought.. Thank you, now there is no need to stress on it, not right away anyways..
