Moist Hide

i have been misting the enclosure for the longest time and it seems near impossible to keep the humidity up in the tank for any length of time. I want to put a moist hide in to sort of help with humidity but I have a couple questions.

1. does it matter I the hide is on the hot side of the tank or the cold side?

2. will my snake find the hide on her own, or is there something I can do to help introduce her to it?

any and all help is appreciated
cheers

Re: Moist Hide

I really don't think it makes much diffrence what side of the cage it's placed on though I perfer to place mine on the warmer side so it gets good and muggy in the hide from alittle heat. I could see problems if the cool side got too cold for too long and might cause a URI, but it's not too likely if the temps are kept right. You could lead your snake into the moist hide the first time but they really tend to find the things they need on their own.

Re: Moist Hide

Yes, the ambient humidity should still be kept up even with a moist hide.

Re: Moist Hide

Yeah, it seems reptiles have a knack for finding knacks . And also, I kind of experimented with the cool vs heat most hide thing and they definitely prefer the moist hide on the hotter side.
