Re: Pastel Boa

The only comment I have is that I think you are aquiring these animals to fast.

Re: Pastel Boa

I agree! You are getting in way too deep far too quickly! Its easily done and very common!
You are not allowing yourself to learn how to properly keep what you have NOW!
And you keep talking about limited space!
THIS is NOT going to fit in your 29 gallon tank!

Not for very long!! Boas grow fast!
And I'm sorry! The 29 gal tank was a discussion with another member and I got my wires crossed!

Re: Pastel Boa

that definitely won't stay in a 55 very long. they get much larger and thicker than any of the snakes you have now. they can end up eating larger things like jumbo rats or rabbits.

many keepers here have boas so I would talk to them before getting that. you'll definitely want to be aware of what you're getting into.

Re: Pastel Boa

Oh yeah I know we're going to get bigger tanks as well, this is just the one we're moving him into right now. We both have been researching a lot about these and talking to (i thought he was posting on here??? i guess not) quite a few different people every since we got our first snake (the Ball almost a year ago). We are friends with a person who was into snake breeding for many years and we've been talking to him for almost a year about these guys and to a lot of his friends and doing research. I really do understand your concerns but we've been really looking forward to getting this one for a long time. I would appreciate some other tips though, if not criticism, I understand. But thank you all for being supportive of us, i know we post a lot on here

Re: Pastel Boa

We will help all that we can. Our main concern was that you seem to be collecting too many a bit too quickly.
Most of us that have been at this any length of time have seen it happen time and again.
Someone gets into reptiles and finds that they just HAVE to have another. Soon they are aquiring everything that they can. They have a room full of animals none of which do they really know how to properly maintain. Before they realize it they have gotten in over their heads! They find that they have more than they can comfortably deal with and their once joyous hobby has now become a tedious chore!

Re: Pastel Boa

I agree. I had to put the brakes on myself with the frogs. I suddenly started to feel a bit overwhelmed, so I turned down a really cheap setup because I know right now I don't need any more animals.
