she's very pretty. i would wait at least until she settles in to feed her. just take it slow. she'll be okay if she doesn't eat right away, especially if she was fed 2 days ago by the breeder. she may not be interested in food yet since she'll be getting used to new things.

Re: Handling a Boa

There seems to be some misunderstanding regarding the term "handling," as we use it. What we are telling you to avoid is taking the snake and interacting with it, "playing" with it if you will, before it gets settled in and for 2 days after feeding.
Simply taking the snake and moving it to a feeding tub and then moving it back to the enclosure afterwards is fine.
But all of this should be put on hold for a week or two to let it settle in from the move.

Re: Handling a Boa

Having spoken to a friend with boas, I fed her tonight. I put a plate into the tank and the mouse on the plate. She's fed, she's fine, and her feeds from now on will be in another tank.

My friend said that the breeder might have missed the last feed to pack the snake to transport it to me, and that I should feed her. I did, she ate and she has settled in more than she did earlier.

Re: Handling a Boa

thats probably because now she's working on digesting her food. they don't seem to move as much since they have a meal in their stomachs.

in the future though, i would not do that. while some snakes are okay with eating while they are still getting used to a new home, others will feel more stressed by someone trying to feed them that it will take longer for them to adjust or, if they do eat and are still stressed, may regurge.
