i have know of locals seeing extremely rare gaboon adders and calling them pythons. Often get called out for 7ft Black Mambas that are actually 1ft house snakes. Know of people getting called for house snakes and it was actually a 6ft python! snakes play games with peoples heads

nice, those look like the true red tails. dont those get bigger than pastels for intance? I read that somewhere

Yes the true red tails can get a foot or two longer. But about ever boa sold these days is listed as a "red tail boa"

Yea, mine was sold as a pastel and the pastel`s don`t get as big as the true red tail. So taht is a good thing for me because I like the size he`s at right now and only want him to grow a few more feet.

A pastel is a morph color description, not a species. You could have a pastel red tail a pastel columbian, a pastel anything. It has nothing to do with size

O I just found a website explaining it all somewhere, don`t remember where or I would post it, but it said the imperator red tails were bigger and listed diffrent morphs and then it listed the smaller boas and pastel was one of them.

There's a really good new book out called True Boa Constrictor by H. + E. Stöckl a well known german breeder of boas. Though the translation is a little rough. It really gives a good look at the localities and subspecies of boa constrictors.

Pastel Boas in the wild are only found in the Colombain Boa constrictor imperator and is not a simple genetic morph rather a poylgenetic natural color variation. Size would be determaned by species and breeding (breeding two very large/small boas will most likely produce and number of very large/small boas). Colombian imperator are know to be the largest growing Boa constrictor, some getting well over 2 meters, the largest in eruope is 10.4 feet and 10 years old. So if your boas a pastel it has atleast some Colombain blood in it and could get pretty big on you.
