Selmac the wise

This is my Selmac. He is quite a character. He's also a big Momma's baby. He recently felt he wasn't getting his "due" in the attention department and developed a terrible looking jaw problem. He was in a very deep shed at the time also. I took him to the vet, she checked him over really well and then laughed that he was "playing me" for attention. His jaw problem was just a new attention getting trick he learned. He's a great snake to take places, he will let most anyone pet him or hold him. The kids at the high school loved him. He loved the attention, I had 4 kids hold him at a time, so no one would have to hold his whole weight. (although he doesn't weigh that much). He did well at fair with the people too, even though reptiles were shown at the same time and in the same place as the mice, rats, gerbils and guinea pigs in the chicken/rabbitt barn!!!

Re: Selmac the wise

OK, I'll try this again. I did it once already, but it wouldn't go through. Selmac is a Red-Tailed Boa. Teal'c is a Jungle-Carpet x Diamond Python. Chakotay is a Ball Python. Yes, they all live together. Chakotay is the "special" little brother who needs help climbing up and down, because he's not so bright. Teal'c takes him up to the top of the cage and puts him on the shelf by the basking light, then takes him back down after a couple of hours. Their cage is 4 feet tall, and has a system of stair like shelves in it. Teal'c likes to be up at the top a lot, Selmac prefers the large bottom igloo hide. Chakotay likes the smaller igloo hide. We have done away with the dishpan hide since they got their "condo" igloo. Chakotay has to be held when he sheds, so Selmac holds him until he can see again. There is more to the story, but I don't want to just be rambling on and boring everyone with my snake tails! ;-)
