Females mean?

Can someone please tell me if female snakes are naturally meaner than the males? Wing the rescue I have is a wonderful snake with a nice disposition, but phew............Prayer is starting to become just like Cleopatra, Hideous! LOL So does this have something to do with both of them being female?

I have found that sex means little when it comes to snake disposition. Just like people they all have their own personality.

I have never noticed females being more aggressive than males. I have both male and female cornsnakes, I have noticed no difference in their temperment. I have both male and female ball pythons and while the female is a bit more outgoing and explorative than the male they are both completely docile.
My common boa is a female and is completely handleable as was her mother who is used in birthday party and school programs.
Now if the snake was gravid it might be another matter.
Hormones you know!

No I dont think it matters really. I have both and dont notice it. Not with the BPs the male retic is fine. the Amazon Tree Boa well they are nippy no matter. Could be gravid or just dont like you. I know birds are that way dont think snakes are.

well maybe it is just because they have been abused, and you know women we hold a grudge! LOL I will just keep working with both of them and hopefully they will come around! They really have no reason to trust me any way, especially Prayer because I am always giving her baths, antibiotic injections, mite injections and mite spray, and fluids, shoot I wouldnt like me either! LOL

I used to have a theory that Green Tree Python females were meaner than males... but it turned out that the mean female was really a male, the other male is a sweetie, the nice baby is a female and the mean baby is a male!!!
Like Jay said, they all have their personalities!!

I would say getting "treatments": injections baths, sprays and oral meds is probably irritating for her... Also, the better she starts to feel, the more she will protest... So at some point, you may need two people to help with the treatments.

I always have another person with me when handling the big snakes, or doing anything in their enclosure, feeding, etc. I have had that emphasized on me time and time again by Derich my snake guy! He always states to me" I cannot stress this enough never handle the big snakes alone, ever for any reason" so I dont. I have learned my lesson by getting my butt chewed the time he came down, unannounced and I was in an enclosure by myself doing some general cleaning, I had to sit through an hour lecture geeez........ it was awful LOL! You know the whole "you are not experienced enough with the huge snakes, what the ... are you doing it went on and on and on, it was hideous, but he was right LOL! (I hate it when that happens!) LOL
So I will not subject myself to that kind of torture and I always have help now! LOL

Our girl (common) was really laid back when we first got her; ok so I found out she was sick. It took about 2-3 weeks for her to turn around and not protesting when she was given her shots. Now we are dealing with the trust issue, every time she senses Marty she thinks of shots. Unfortunately he is the only one who can get her out of the cage (to high for me to reach down into) and she is too big for me to handle alone. My two youngest sons aren't really big enough yet to help handle her. So to make a long story short, I think she has become Marty's snake (he is the one who carries pictures of her in his wallet).
