I just got a new 7' red tail boa and she has an old scar about 15" long that starts about 2" above her vent and ends like I said like 15" up. Is this from her being spayed? or ???? im so confused!!!! any help?

Do you have any medical history on this snake ? and a picture would be helpful. Welcome to HC by the way.

That sure does look like a medical procedure scar. Judging by the length of it it is quite possible to be a neutering/spaying issue. There really is no way to be certain without it's history or possibly contacting the vet that the previous owner used. It sure isn't a burn or injury scar,,,it's way too clean. Judging by what little there is too see in the pics,,,,she looks healthy now.

Thanks for all the coments! I've had my male snake for about 2 years now and is the nicest snakes i've ever had. He had a full shead today my first on from him. Dont get me wrong he sheads very nicely but always breaks the skin in to many places to uncoil it. I dont know but its exciting to me.
I got this female kinda to breed them but if she's fixed that would kinda suck! but Thanks again!

when I had a hand me down BP that line was present on it and I didn't think much of it, however it later turned into rotting flesh erosion when they get too wet, that kind of a deal, could this be the end or beginning result of that flesh eating thing even though this one isn't in that much moisture.?
