Wall Hugging

Not sure if this should go here or on the habitat section, but here goes. So Severus seems to be quite the wall hugger on the glass (he'll have like 3/4 of his body up the side of the tank, belly up to the glass, and head up near the screen top. I'm not sure if this is okay or not (thinking not as neither of my previous snakes really done this). He's now in a 10 gallon glass aquarium with a screen top with the top partly covered to retain humidity. He's got a small cutout Sterilite for a cool hide and a hollowed rock for a warm hide and he doesn't really spend time in either. The humidity is around 50-60% and the warm side is upper 70s with an Exoterra under tank heater and the cool side is mid 70s.

I'm thinking the warm side isn't warm enough as it seems on the cool side for the things I've read about BCIs, but he spends most of the time on the glass on the cool side. I'll still probably buy a heatlamp for him (I didn't have to do this with a Sterilite cage). He's got about half an inch of aspen shavings for substrate and his water dish is on the warm side to maintain humidity. Should I just move him straight to the 90 L Sterilite I have to retain the heat better or is this just part of the exploring phase?

Here is the caresheet that might be able to answer some of you questions.

Thanks but I've read it already (and multiple other care sheets online) but that didn't really answer my question. I got an infrared heat bulb this afternoon which brought the warm side to about 84 and the cool side to the mid 70s. Now he's curled up behind his cool hide box, but is that wall hugging thing normal if I see him doing it again? My other two snakes have not done that.

All he is doing is using the wall to brace so that he can get his head up near the top.
He's checking for a way out!

Yeah, I figured he would explore for a day or two (as Sheila did when I just got her a new 40 gallon tall a few days ago), but I got him 5 days ago and he's still doing it. Ah well...just odd looking just to hang out like that I suppose as the other snakes didn't do it.

My Children's Python did that every single day! I swear she could practically stand straight up on her tail...honestly not much tail was on the floor of her tank to support her. I have no idea how she could manage it. ...she would hug the wall so she could streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch all the way up to the top and literally bend a significant amount of her length over backwards along the top of the screen. I swear it looked like she was slithering around on her ceiling.
