Hognose Ownership

It never fails to amaze me when I see local species being bred and sold as popular pets! I had no idea that hognoses were semi-popular pets, and was surprised when I saw one in the classified section on here for $150! Here in Virginia they are commonly killed, mistaken for copperheads by people who have never seen one. Very neat snakes though.

Re: Hognose Ownership

The great thing about them is that they don't require huge long expensive aquariums. I like the albinos.

Re: Hognose Ownership

The one our local park owned was an eastern hognose that had some beautiful coloration, yellows and reds and whathaveyous. I think it had some problems going from toads and things to mice- do you know if there are problems like this with captive born ones or is that just a wild caught thing?

Re: Hognose Ownership

Captives will switch over to scented mice with ease.

They usually start off on frogs, fish etc.
