I work in a pet store, so I'm constantly dealing with people and their pets and their pet problems.

The most recent thing that's happened is probably the most annoying. A lot of people own bearded dragons. They seem to be one of the most popular lizard pets. There's this guy who comes in regularly and buys meal worms and superworms for his BD. Just as a little heads-up, he's very weird and he thinks he knows everything. So, he's already bought the superworms and this other lady comes in and asks for 50 large crickets. I send one of my employees to get it. She sees him with the superworms and asks what he has. He tells her he has a bearded dragon. She says that she does too. He then begins to tell her that Crickets are bad for bearded dragons, and you should really only feed them mealworms or superworms, which are just giant mealworms. I jump and say "Wait a minute. Hold the phone. First of all, crickets are good for bearded dragons. As juveniles they should be the staple insect. Also, superworms are NOT giant mealworms. They're different type of beetle larvae." He just stood there for a minute and then said "whatever"

I mean honestly! the nerve of people! they think they know everything, but what they know is wrong! I'm thinking of writing a book of all the stupid s**t people have said to me over the course of my employment. I mean, honestly it's ridiculous. If you ever want to hear more "Stupid Pet Owner" stories, please! let me know! I have dozens!

It's true that a lot of pet store employees don't know jack, and then proceed to tell you false information, but I personally own a lot of pets. And yes, I do want to make the sale, but I don't want to see an animal suffer. Anyway, I don't condone making a sale just for the purpose of making money, and though we do sell large lizards such as iguanas and savannah monitors, if I'm the one helping, I make sure to tell people the TRUTH about these animals, and not just sugar coat it. So, yeah, most pet store employees are idiots. I'm not one of them though

It goes both ways. People, in general, are not that bright. That's why we can snicker at the end of the day at all the strange stuff you've heard all day.
