Re: Reptile Classifieds
Not being to comment is just a usergroup setting. You don't need to register. I have most of the groups disabled so no one goes and adds any ads to the system that are real. lol
I can pull the location info, but its only useful if the person actually entered it. lol I will see what I can come up with. |

Re: Reptile Classifieds
Is there a way on whatever form they use to post to put that information? I assume there are boxes that prompt for information, like the price. Perhaps one could be added for location?
Just tossing out suggestions, not knowing how the back end looks. ![]()

Re: Reptile Classifieds
Half of what is on the Ad display I created or manipulated. I can add anything to the page. My goal though is to make ad creation as quick and painless as possible. Having them enter that information once in their main profile and having it autopopulate that field would be much easier and convienient than having to enter it each time. (I will be selling a bunch of Leopard Geckos on this thing and I do not want to enter my location every time.)
What I think I am going to do is ammend the profiles location field with a description indictive of the classifieds useage. This way, if the user doesn't have anything entered, they can enter it there. I can then just pull it the one time. ![]() |

Re: Reptile Classifieds
I have added the Location field as well as an optional phone number field.
The location works as follows. If you entered a location in your profile, it will be displayed beside that field. If you haven't, an instruction is listed asking you to add your location with a link to that field in the profile. The phone number field is optional. If they enter their number it is displayed, if they don't, nothing is displayed. |

Re: Reptile Classifieds
i posted an ad, and when I was done and hit submit it told me something about that area was no longer part of the database? I think it was the amphibian secction it was referring to, BUT the ad posted anyway in the right place. Odd.
And the distance calculator is off. I plugged in my zip and my parents zip, which I know is a 425 mile drive and it told me it was only 270 miles away. I don't think its that close as the crow flies.

Re: Reptile Classifieds
Thats been fixed. Keep testing it. Give me some feedback. The upload and edit pages are complete rewrites. Nate saw how they looked before I worked on them.
Comment on ads, send private messages, etc. Try to break it and report back to me how you did. |

Re: Reptile Classifieds
OK, i put the sun up for sale, and it says SOLD now, but I didn't tell it to be sold. Its just sold. Unless Rich bought it and made it sold? If thats the case he owes me 250 million.
And when we are entering the information at the very bottom, like age, sex, shipping, pickup, can we have pull downs instead of typing?

LOL
I like the pull down idea though.
