Re: Good to see you Mark

Last night I bought all the Hardi-backer I will need for my bathroom remodel as well as the new toilet and sink. I have to have all this delivered as there is no chance my 1999 Saturn could carry any of it. I'll be able to carry all the other small stuff I still have to buy (plumbing attachments, tile, mastic, grout, crown moulding, screws for the backer board, etc.)

Having a small car for a house remodel is a good thing and a bad thing. It keeps me from going overboard too fast but at the same time I do have to get large and or heavy stuff back.

You should have seen me buying all the blocks for my retaining wall and my patio with my saturn. I can carry about 600 pounds of stuff which includes humans. I made a whole bunch of trips.

LOL... I know the feeling! I bought three ceiling fans and had them STUFFED in to the trunk of my RX8. I have to bring my brother or dad when I go for the big stuff.

Are you starting the bathroom this weekend?

Re: Good to see you Mark

Bathroom was started and left for a while. The old tub surround split a seam when the old owners were here and the gypsum behind it crumbled and was moldy. I found this when I knocked out the ruined plaster wall on the other side of the studs. At that point I had to rip out most of the walls in the bathroom (a mix of plaster and drywall) to get a new tub and surround in.

This will get the room close to finished but I anticipate a few weekends on it. I am still skim coating another room, mudding and taping a second bedroom and will have to go into the office again on Saturday.

I have a 1999 four door Saturn SL1. I can get 10' sticks of up to 2x10 in it and still have the doors, trunk, and windows closed. I also managed to get a 5 gallon potted ginkgo tree fully in my car along with four 3 gallon potted azalias. You should see the looks I get at Lowes when I start to load my car.

Re: Good to see you Mark

I like my little car. I know I will have weekend road trips where the economy of the car is great. Weekend of the 4th of August I drove down to a friend's wedding in Atlanta from Rockford (halfway between Chicago and Davenport) -- 1883 miles with a nights layover in St Louis on both legs of the trip. Took a three day weekend and walked into work around lunch on Monday. Man did I need that veg out time.
