Re: Good to see you Mark

You just have to remember that decorating is all personal taste and the people you buy the house from will inevitably have bad taste.

I don't think that any of those colours is too bad though I will tend to go a little darker and bolder than those when I paint. Right now I am looking for some decent art work for my back bedroom/office and will use that as a jump off point for the wall colour. I was in a poster / repro print shop yesterday filpping through and think I will go with some of the botanical detail drawings and perhaps some macro flower photos in that room.

I had to knock out my tub and tub liner not for the looks but because the seam at the back where the wall mates with the tub split and the green board was soaked and molding. So I'm going to have one long hard working weekend where I remove the toilet and sink then knock out a mix of plaster and drywall only to hang hardi backer and place tile there. Did I mention my whole experience with plumbing has been installing my new tub and reworking my (formerly dripping) kitchen sink along with adding a filtered drinking water faucet.

When I walked in here the carpet had been down since about 1995 and three rooms had that lovely masonite wall board faux paneling. Two of them were painted so many times the grooves had started to fill in.

I also had to replace the most of the fence and gate. When doing that I found that my neighbors yards are 8" above mine and the fence was a retaining wall. So 60 running feet of block retaining wall later I have a nice large raised garden around my yard.

I have a bunch of photos on my photo bucket but they're all older (all interior shots are from the inspection). I have about 90 more on my camera but can't find the link cable after my move.

Here are some of my macro flowers: Flickr: Search

If you have anything particular in mind i'm planning on shooting more flowers by the end of the week, in the studio and in the field.

I'll need to surf those when I have more time but how large can I get any of these printed? AKA what is the pixel count on the largest res copy you have in each?

Eek. Renovating means drywall dust. That stuff gets into everything and is pretty rough on the lungs. I know how feel with the specs getting covered. I don't wear my glasses much but definitely can't wear contacts when drywalling. Kitchen looks like it was done fairly recently. Nice place.

Re: Good to see you Mark

3456x2304 pixels on most of them (8 megapixels)Which is rumored at full res o make decent 36x48inch prints, a few have been cropped in which case i'll need to go back and look at them, but we've got a very talented enlarger in town that I need to pay a visit to because I need to get quoted on making reptile tank backgrounds.

Re: Good to see you Mark

Drywall dust???? Ever deal with gutting plaster. Drywall dust is an amateur next to plaster grit and dust. Except for the room I gutted and drywalled my whole house is plaster. The one small room and one ceiling yielded 1460 pounds of plaster chunks hauled to the dump.

That photo was during the process of blowing in insulation. Cellulose insulation is amazing stuff. I had a chunk of it so I tossed it into a small bonfire. After 6 hours in that fire there were only a few hints of charing on small areas but for the most part the insulation was still in tack.

My kitchen gets gutted and many ugly problems fixed next spring. My current kitchen is all but useless I have about 10 square feet of counter top.

What a cute house! Good for you! Knowing your endless pursuit for better iguana cages, I'm sure you'll be working on your home for quite some time!

By the way... I REALLY enjoyed the pics of Bob in your photo album. I miss Bob stories.

Re: Good to see you Mark

I guess. LOL

I don't pop into the Furry and Feathered forum, so you'll have to PM me.

He'll be much easier to find a sitter for though. That's the ONE bummer about Gil... good thing I can't afford to go away much!
