How I spent Memorial Day
My girlfriend and I, her kids, and a shooting buddy hit the hills to burn off some ammo. The video below is my girlfriend's daughter shooting a full-auto Mac-10 Submachine gun. She's a pretty good shot, too!

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
I'm going to keep my trap shut because I'm very opinionated when it comes to guns.

Hee hee, guns are cool. But wow, you're allowed to own a fully automatic weapon in the U.S. Pitty the deer.

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
Not every state in the US allows full-auto weapons, and that gun is not legal for hunting (animals) It's the wrong caliber.

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
I don't think you are allowed to own a fully automatic gun in Pennsylvania. I love to trap shoot with a 10 guage shot gun and target shoot with .22 and .38 cal hand guns. My husband and I used to belong to a gun club many years ago. I am acutally a better shot than he is! I think it lots of fund to go shooting, although I could NEVER NEVER shot an animal. I ran over a squirrel once and I was so upset my husband thought I hit a child!

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
If they didn't hunt deer in my area. We'd soon have a lot of starving sick deer around. They proliferate rather quickly it seems, and require population control.

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
i have no problem with hunting as long as its for food. My brother in law feeds his family every year with a deer he hunts. I don't like hunting for sport. Volleyball or hockey is a sport, killing things is not.

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
Pennsylvania outlawed deer hunting in the late fifties and lost 98% of the deer herd. For years afterward, other states were shipping deer to PA to rebuild the herd.

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
Hmm... Northern Virginia has a deer overpopulation problem. They seem to think allowing hunting is the way to go (I've been considering allowing an archer to hunt on my property, actually -- my garden is being absolutely decimated). Chrome, are you saying that outlawing hunting *caused* the drop in population in PA? How, by starvation and/or disease caused by an overpopulation first?

Re: How I spent Memorial Day
Most places have at one time experienced what Chrome is talking about. Once humans remove all the predators this allows the deer to over populate, which puts too many animals in the same areas attempting to survive off of the same food sources. Between the over population and the lack of predators to weed out the sick and weak the herds suffered from disease outbreak and death by starvation.
