I need to complain and let off some steam
so here is a rant....
My husband and I were going to host a Memorial day party, and my friends from the Celica club and his friends from the Subaru club were both coming. The amount of people started getting a bit too big for our small rowhouse, so one of the Subaru guys offered up his place, on an acre of flat land, with volleyball, horse shoes, a hot tub, etc...
well, suddenly none of my friends from the Celica club want to come any more. Whites Tree Frog. It can't be a distance thing, because its only 10 minutes from my house. My one friend who has a 3 month old said she "doesn't want to take her baby to a place where there are lots of strangers"
Huh? I asked her if she ever took her child out of the house, you know like to the grocery store. I also said the host has 2 kids of her own, and I would never invite or attend anything where I didn't feel safe, much less my friends.
Its just a rant. I'm angry that my friends ditched out on something that I was looking forward to.
thanks for listening.

Re: I need to complain and let off some steam
Aww, bummer. The lots of strangers comment is weird (but lots of new moms with little babies are a bit weird -- it does that to you). Personally, I have a hard time with larger gatherings, so that might affect my feelings about attending something. I am a semi-introvert and enjoy seeing just a few friends at a time and having a chance to really talk to them. And when my kids were little, it could be very hard to juggle stuff around naptimes and my own mommy exhaustion. But I can understand how you'd be feeling let down! I hope you go and have a great time anyway!!

Re: I need to complain and let off some steam
This crowd never has a hard time at gatherings, and the only thing that changed is location. It was still the same exact people, and it seems as one person says they aren't coming, then the next chimes in an so on.
I guess I'm taking it personally. I'm also angry at my husband for changing the location without asking me first. He just kinda said "this is how its going to be" The two of us have talked that through, but it doesn't fix the current situation.

Re: I need to complain and let off some steam
Well, I guess all you can do is go out and have the best darn time you can, given the circumstances. I hope you do, and that the communication with your husband this time helps make things smoother next time.

Re: I need to complain and let off some steam
So have a wonderful time anyways!
And then tell them what a shindig they missed!
And really rub it in!
Exaggerations will be allowed!
