GET THE CHIP.
I'm 50-50 on vaccines. I think we vaccinate too much. I would maybe get it in her first round of shots, but then not bother with it again. I look at it this way, we get shots when born and we only need it once, never again. My friend works for a vet and she has her dogs blood pulled every year and tested for antibodies. After 5 years, she still has the same amount of antibodies as any other dog who routinely gets shots.

We recommend vaccinating every 3 years at the least....and always stay up to date on your rabies vaccine.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Okay I am having a proud momma moment..... i dropped my oldest son off at football practice this morning and talked with his coach for a while. He is in freshman football right now,, since he is a freshman, lol. His coach says that it looks as if he is going varsity next year Up here that is almost unheard of,, sophmores on the varsity team.. Our varsity team took state champs last year, and still this year is undefeated. The freshman team is holding strong at 6 and 1. I am so proud of him and at the same time it is hard to watch your baby play those sports as he is BRUTAL, his philosophy is take no prisoners, lol..
Also his football coach is also his wrestling coach and has been for the last two years. I was just informed that he is definately wrestling varsity this year,, There are no other fresham wrestling varsity at all this year and so far two sophmores.. I am a little proud, can you tell, lol.
And for those who are wondering,, yes his grades are awesome,, holding strong a 3.9 gpa! I was informed if he keeps this up he can easily get academic scholorships and football scholarships That would be of some help with the college bill, lol
Okay this is a little odd,, I hear this loud music for a couple of minutes and decide to go and see what it was,,, the old dude across the street, and I mean old! He is jamming out to Guns And Roses,,, Welcome to the Jungle,,, It is one of the craziest things I have ever seen lol,, At least he has good taste

Which vaccines do you do every three years? This is what the kitten has had shots for so far
FVRCP on 9/16 and 10/11 She has also been dewormed on those two dates.
I am supposed to take her back in 3-4 weeks for another FVRCP shot and one final deworming. I think the vet said the visit after that she will get her rabies shot. and the I believe she is good until she is six months old when she will be spayed.
I am sure that I am going to decline the Feline Leukenia vaccine. THe only other cats she may be around are my mother in laws and they are both indoor cats who tested negative.
As for the microchip, I am probably going to do it. I would be heart broken if she got away and there was a chance that she could have been returned.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I called the vet office this morning to make the next appointment and I requested to see the same doc. that has taken care of my rabbit for the past three years. I have been very happy with him. He wasn't available to first two times I brought the kitten in. The first vet was very laid back and didn't really offer any advice, the second vet on the second visit gave us tons of information but was somwhat of an alarmest. She told me that the kitten had a slight heart murmur. She would probably grow out of it. But if I wanted I could do a cardiac work up for $290!! This vet. practice has like 18 doctors on staff. Dr. Lindsey who takes care of my rabbit specializes in small animals but also does cats too. I have very happy with his care for the rabbit. I haven't had a cat since I was a kid and my mother took care of all
of this stuff, so it is all new to me.
I must say she is about the cutest little thing. She sleeps on my pillow every night. She snuggles right up against my neck. I took more pictures of her, but I didn't get a chance to download them yet. I will post them asap.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Thats awesome Nicole. My son is on the freshman team as well and we are 6-0 so far. We have several sophomores on our Varsity. Katy is ranked #5 in the nation I believe or something like that, lol. I am hoping Garrett will be on Varsity next year, if not, as long as he is playing all the time he is happy, lol.

They said the same thing about my Abby. Up to $400 for cardiac work and a lifetime of meds that MIGHT make her live longer, might not. She is the shyest and most scared cat I have ever known. Giving her a pill every day to possibly give her another year of life was NOT in her best interest. I'd rather her live a hassle free shorter life than a life of daily pill shoving. Heck, just a week on antibiotics and she runs the other way from me.
She is nine now. The worst thing that will happen, is her heart will give out prematurely and she will die in her sleep of a heart attack.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I think I suddenly have too many tanks, enclosures and possible enclosures at my fingertips. How did that happen?
Someone at work is giving me a 45g tank (I haven't seen it yet, so I'm not sure what the dimensions are), I have the old iguana cage, which can easily be sterilized and used for a quite large something else, plus I have no less than three different pieces of furniture which would only take a little time and effort to convert to cages - not to mention the screened-in cham set-up from my very brief time with my adopted vieled.
Yikes. How did that happen? Usually I just have two or three 20g tanks laying around. But I've given my last one away, I think, which is good. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with it all.
Lacey, another one of your beautiful photos!
