I went on a road trip this last weekend to "The Great Prosser Hot Air Balloon Rally" in Prosser, WA...then we followed the Columbia River Gorge down to Portland, OR and out to sea. Stay tuned for more on my adventure:

That's very cool. I love the pattern those balloons make in that picture.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread

Well I am going to do some more thinking out loud,,,,,,

I have come to discover that people donate more money to furry rescue than reptile rescue,,,,,surprise surprise,,,lol. Since I have started this cat thing, people are coming out of the woodwork asking can I help, Can I adopt one, you know blah blah blah. I have had more donations in the last seven weeks for them, then I ever have for the reptiles,,, once again, surprise surprise, lol. I have adopted some out myself to good homes. That is how I met the people who took my Russian torts, they are an awesome home for them. He built a beautiful enclosure that they just love Too bad they didnt like iguanas, lol.
I also found an old farmer who wants the real feral ones for barn cats, so that is nice. At least they wont be killed and will be appreciated for the excellent hunters that they are.
I did finally get even with animal shelters here,,, lol,,, They had a 4 foot boa dumpedon their front doorstep in a bucket,, and low and behold they called me. Well since they refused to even help one cat out of that trailer park, I will not pull their fat out of the fire. I kindly explained to them that since I have so many cats in my home under my care that they wouldnt help, I had no room whatsoever for another snake, what a shame, lmao! I explained how they need to set it up, and the fact that they need to get it to a vet asap, and good luck with th e whole thing (still laughing). She then had the nerve to tell me they had noone there that liked snakes, to even work with it,, I replied thats a shame but I feel your pain, I dont like cats, but yet I work with them, she got real quiet and I wished her a good day, laughed and hung up.
I love getting even, lol

Re: The Internets Longest Thread

I dont feel bad for him. they are a no kill shelter, so he will get what he needs. its just the girls down there are not into snakes at all. This will be a learning experience for them. lol. I feel bad for the cats still in that park waiting to get in the rescue or my house that have such bad infections, some of them are dying before I can find a spot for them to get them help. I have had now hmmm, lets see,,,, ruptured eardrums, lots of upper resspitory, cats dye on the table while being spayed because they are deformed on the inside from being inbred, Some have had no sternum, fused ribs, others have had so many litters at such a young age, they have a real hard time coming out of the surgery, and 3 weeks later, just give up and die. I have one here that I had to have his eye removed because he had an infection for so long that went untreated there was nothing that could be done to save the eye. Now all that I feel bad for,,,and I am not a huge cat fan either, lol. The lady that runs the county shelter,,,well lets just say there is no love loss between her and I. I pay my taxes and they still do nothing. The county pays a lot to run that shelter and she still refuses to help, but when they get a snake in I am just supposed to jump right in and help. WRONG! The difference between her and I is she gets paid to do this and NONE of the expenses come out of her pocket, All of the expenses come out of mine, minus some donations I have received, but that still does not even cover 10 percent of what I put out for their care and vet bills. I am not county or city funded, lol. So her getting a little taste of her own medicine wont hurt her, lol.
Maybe if she would have offered a trade or something then that would have been different,,,, you know,, I will take one of those sick cats if you take this snake, but she would not even consider that, so why should I go out of my way to help her when she does nothing for me. Dont get me wrong if I thought the snake was in danger of being euthanised I would have went and got it, but I know its not. I am sure eventually I will end up with it, when she is tired of dealing with it and will take one of the cats, lol

Re: The Internets Longest Thread

You tell them, Nicole! They deserve to have to take care of an animal they aren't fond of if they won't help you out at all.

It's a real shame that any animal has to be housed with them.

Then again, it's more of a shame that their owners don't keep them in the first place.
