Which furry animals do rock? Tarantulas, maybe. Monkeys kind of rock. Sloths. Wolves, now they definitely rock.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I have 2 "REAL" dogs and 2 yippers .....oh and 3 cats....I am more of a dog person but I dont mind the cats unless they are sleeping with their furry bods on my clean laundry...that is irritating...and watch the smaller Reptiles....they usually are hunters if they are feral...so make sure the lids are strong enough to hold their weight and also locked on LOL....we dont want reptiliian accidents...I love all white kitties and calico kitties (neither of which I own LOL) but in time...good luck with yours Nicole....

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
All of my cages and giant habitats are locked,, they either have padlocks or the actual cage clips, bent strongly in place to where I have to take a knife to open them myself, lol. I have too many kids in and out of here to not have them locked,,, I definately dont need some lawsuit, lol. I even have the ferret cage and guinea pig cage locked with padlocks.
Well come to think of it the only ones that are not padlocked are the betta bowls,,, I dont imagine they can do a lot of physical harm though
It tends to be a pain come feeding and cleaning time,,,it used to take me a million years to find the right key. So after many years of doing this my hubby suggested labeling the keys. I just looked at him with that DUH look on my face, I cant believe I never thought of that, LMAO!

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
i need to fashion a lock of sorts on the new frog enclosure. I dont think it needs a lock since we have no kids, but I'm at least going to put a latch at the very top (about 7 feet up).

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Four of my seven cages have locks on them, not to keep people out, but to keep pets in....the Bearded Dragon, the skinks and the iguana. The frogs and geckos aren't locked up because they aren't concerned with getting out.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
If you are only concerned with keeping the critters in a cheap deadbolt is great for wooden cages. I use velcro strips to secure the tops on the aquariums.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
The magnets seem to be doing the trick. I have 2 heavy duty kitchen cabinet magnets on there, and I watched greenie take a flying leap onto the door and it didn't even think about opening.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
my only concern is to keep curious little kids out,,,and the ocassional stupid adult who thinks they are snake charmers, lol. I do not want any lawsuit because someone thought they could tame Wing,,my huge mean red tail boa. I have people come in and out wanting to volunteer and no sooner do I tell them to stay out of the snake cages, their curiousity kills them and they JUST HAVE to try to tame him. I do not let the volunteers handle any of my snakes or two particular male iguanas I have in at the moment.
So the padlock thing works for me,,,,, without the key, you cant get in

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
yeah, i don't think I have to worry about the frogs gumming someone. I do worry a bit about the cats though. I may stick a piece of velcro at the top and bottom. just to be sure.
On a side note, my very nice Flukers digital humidity/temp reader fell into the frogs water dish and was "off" when I fished it out. Its been drying for 2 days now. Anyone think it will survive or is it toast? It was only a week old
