Nicole, put the ig's head inside a plastic cup when you have to give the shot... I've heard it helps with the "turn[ing] his head around like the excorcist to try to bite you" routine.

Seems like an interesting state Washington though. Lots of picturesque views and interesting places for hiking.

I'm pretty fond of Washington...it's a common misconception that washington is rainy and miserable. Just the west side of the state is. The Cascade Mountain range creates a rain shadow so the central part of the state is a desert, cacti, horned lizards the whole 9 yards, I live on the eastern edge of the state where the plateau land turns back into forest so I get the best of both worlds.

North of here fairly close to one of my favorite camp spots

Lake Lenore Caves (Volcanic Bassalt caves that were created hundreds of millions of years ago.)

I must admit I do love Washington State! It is very pretty over here!

Now for some more mindless thinking out loud! Kids are gone at Grandmas for spring break, have been gone for two days now. I cleaned the house on the first day and it is still clean, I am so totally confused and bored out of my mind! I took Oscar out for a couple of hours yesterday in the sunshine, found some more dandelions that he had no problem plowing through, As I layed in the grassy area with him he climbed on top of me and decided to park his big ol booty there, very funny. How many people can say that they have had a big tortoise use them as a basking rock, lol. Grizzly is still mad at me Baby Dragon is still lethargic , I think she is just resting a lot to fight the infection.
Last night I noticed Cleopatra had a mite on her, so naturally I panick as I hate those creepy nasty little things, I thought at first that they were Hitchikers from Wing and Prayer, but when I took her out I noticed they were very much embedded under her scales under her chin. Ughhhhhh... So we strip the enclosure, give bath, and now give her ivermectin. I am not fond of the ivermectin as it can cause problems but I have no choice with her. She came to me with them and I thought they were all gone but I was so wrong! So now we just bring out the big guns. She is very pale in the mouth, I am concerned! The vet told me this morning continue the ivermectin for 6 weeks and watch very closely! The paleness is likely due to the mites!
So as for now my doors are closed and I will not be taking in anymore until these three snakes get healthy, mites no longer in the house, and the iguanas are done with their rehab, which will probably take forever, lol. I was cussed out yesterday on the phone when I turned down yet another IGUANA. Seems to be an epidemic of them lately, makes 4 in a week that I have turned down. She told me what a sucky rescue I have to turn down animals and this iguana was biting her daughter all the time. I asked how old the daughter she replied 8 Have you ever got the feeling you are surrounded by morons Why would you buy an Iguana for your 8 year old? dah ring a bell, lol . I explained to her that at the moment I have 14 iguanas ranging from full grown to babies, 3 large red tail boa, 2 pythons, treefrogs, horned frogs, ratsnake, birds, tokay gecko, and 1 large sulcata, but she was still not very understanding. She told me that was what I was paid for!!! LOL!! Paid for? Once again duhhhhhhh. And in the words of Jeff Foxworthy "heres your sign!" Oh well you cant win them all!

So now I must get off my lazy booty and go and clean the green meanie enclosure, time to find the pressure washer and my space suit

Tune in later for some more mindless thinking out loud

Nicole,...Lets see if I have this right.
She, in an act of total ignorance purchased a potentially dangerous wild animal as a pet for an 8 year old child, then she cusses you out for being physically unable to remedy a situation that was brought about due to HER ignorance, lack of foresight and planning, and just general ignorance.
Oh wait did I use the word ignorance too many times.
No.
I don't think so!

YEP, you have the whole thing right Merlin. Her lack of planning and researching and wait..............IGNORANCE, is supposed to constitute an emergency on my part. NOT! I loved the statement "thats what you get paid for" Do these people actually think that I get paid for this, how dumb! This is all out of my pocket, with the ocassional donation here and there. In the month of March I totalled over 1650.00 Thats right 1650.00 in vet bills, food, meds, and new enclosure supplies. Not to mention the many hours of slavery to them Oh well its not the first time nor will it probably be the last. Well wait it is the first time that I have been cussed out by someone other than the the other moron rescuer, but he doesnt count

Just adding to this worlds longest thread thing, seems I use this to vent and think out loud.

Today yet another uneventful day, more cleaning of enclosures, more shots and more feeding. I went to wal mart today and went crazy in the fake plant section as I am so tired of some of their enclosure looking so blah, so I went against what I usually do and hung some and put some where they can actually reach them, looked good for all of 20 minutes until they decided to do some rearranging of their own Oh well its all good

Baby DRagon is laying on me as I type this being such a good girl. I am in the process of designing another enclosure that will stack 4, and of course look like a piece of furniture I want it to hold the pac man frogs, tokay, and king Arthur. Which will then get these tanks out of my house I am not fond of tanks everywhere I like my enclosures to be beautiful and be a piece of furniture that goes with the rest of my home. I did take pictures of the one that was just done for Wing and Grizzly, I suppose I should post them Ah maybe later.

On another note, the garden is being rototilled as I type this ( I paid an unemployed friend 15.00 an hour to do my slave labor this time, )man thats cheap So also bought TONS of seeds today, I am so excited about spring and gardening, I love it! My ponds are doing great and most of the Koi survived this hideous winter, Amazing! Cant wait till the garden starts producing, man will my green bill go way down! Good thing I have a large garden to feed this crew this year! Cant wait to go plant! Funny how I can grow anything outside but pheewwww........dont give me a houseplant,LOL

Well must go clean a guinea pig cage, ye haw.......... These birds are hideous! They will not shut up!! Ughhhhhh, good thing most of them are gone

Speaking of gone, I really miss invader Zim the Bearded Dragon that found a new home yesterday, I really miss my morning ritual of him puffing up and head bobbing me and me trying to convince him that I WAS tougher than him, he never believed it Well it is for the better. I had him for over a year and three months when I actually looked in his file, did not seem like that long, then again on some days it seemed like longer. Its amazing how easy it is to get attached

well must go make some cockatiel on a stick, sounds yummy with a little bit of barbecue sauce
