Random ranting, if you are the easily grossed out type, do not read this!
Well I made it to the other trailer park this morning to assess the situation even better. I went with a ton of tuna and cat food. I have never seen so many cats in one area. Yikes! This makes the last trailer park look like a cake walk. Animal control was really nice and hooked me up with all kinds of stuff to start the helping of these kitties. I did bring one home this morning, you can see his total skeletal structure from a mile away. He also has the bloated belly, like he is starved. He has a wonderful personality though, so he has some hope. He was kind enough to drop a couple of tapeworm segments on my lap ( gross! ) I just about barfed, lol. I was told by the vet that I have to monitor the amount of food and water that he takes in as he will eat so much it will make him sick. He acts like he has not eaten in years, it is sad. It is really hard for me to not give him all he wants lol. I really hope that things turn out well for him, he has such a great personality.
I witnessed about 105 kittens, and that is no typo, they range from about 5 weeks on up, I have never seen so many in one spot. There must be at least 40 pregnant females, a bunch of tomcats, a tremendous amount of truly feral cats. One man came up to me and pointed out that he has a cat that has been living under his trailer for 6 to 7 weeks that drags himself around because there is something wrong with his hind legs. I went to look and I could not get him because he is feral and I did not have my snare with me ( I think that is what you call it, lol. It is the same thing that animal control uses to catch the animals), I also do not feel like getting bit again. So I set a trap and I will go and check it in about an hour, I am sure he will be in it. Now tell me, why would you let a cat live under your house like that in horrible pain and do nothing until someone comes out? Are we really that cruel of a species? Ughh! I asked him why he did not call anyone, he stated it is not his cat and so it is not his problem, I just wanted to hit him! He also stated he did not want it put to sleep,,, WHAT??! This is a totally feral cat, that probably will not be able to be healed, so I will probably have to humanely have him euthanised. That is a better option than sitting somewhere in immense amounts of pain waiting for the infection to kill you. Oh, I just get so mad! Why do people let it get this bad also, it still just confuses me. They have so many excuses as to why they could not pick up the phone or anything like that. That is all it is, excuses, talk about a bunch of lazy people! He told me he suffers from anxiety so it is disabling to him, waaaahhh, I told him that I suffer from MS and dont sit around and whine about it! Life is pretty painful lately but I still do what I need to do, I run into **** all the time like I am a drunk, it is kind of funny, it is a good thing I have a good sense of humor, lol. However back to the point, he suffers from anxiety so therefor he cannot do anything at all, like pick up a phone and call someone, oh please! That is such a crock!
On another note, my garage is all set up with huge wire dog kennels stacked two high. So I will be prepared for all the ones I trap tonight, and today. I found a bunch of really great deals on old comforters at the thrift store, so they are washed and ready to go. The dollar store had great food and water bowls, they even had catboxes. So I will have twenty five separate cat boxes in the garage, YUCK! Sounds like a lot of work, lol.
I am so grateful for the older gentleman that volunteers with my reptiles! He will be here today and tomorrow to make sure that all their stuff gets done and they get their time out! Minus Amadeus of course, lol. I will deal with him later.
I am actually amazed at how few reptiles I have now. It has been a great summer for finding homes, I only have 6 iguanas in at the moment, that is an all time low for me! I also only have Wing and Prayer for snakes right now! It is amazing. It is not like I dont have a huge list though! I am taking a couple more weeks off from new arrivals, it is kind of nice with half of my enclosures being empty. I do kind of feel guilty but I do need the time at the moment. Well I cant say that I am not taking any at all, I am meeting someone in an hour at the trailer park who says his snake will not right itself, he told me this, this morning and then had to go somewhere, so chances are I will probably come home with that one, but it is just one, lol.
I think I have figured out why I dont like people. The only people I am ever around are people like this, people who dont care about anything but themselves. Maybe I should pay a shrink to listen to me rant, or maybe everytime I rant like this I should put 5 bucks in the meter box, lol. At least it goes to something that helps educate people! There that is a fabulous idea, I will put 5 bucks in the meter box everytime I rant and moan and complain about these horrible people. Rich, you should be loaded by the time I am done with this trailer park, lol, I really LOATHE these people so I am sure I will have a lot to rant about !
Okay Iam done for now, I have to go and check my traps and meet this guy about the snake, oh and put my 5 bucks in the meter. Hey, it is cheaper than a shrink, lol

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Are you saying I should see a shrink instead? lol.
Liz, right at this very moment I am holding a 4 week old or so orange and white baby kitty, feeding him a bottle and typing this with one hand. lol. You would just love this one, he is purring. You would never guess I am not real fond of cats, lol. I am going to send this one to you. lol.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Oh my! I am exhausted! I am now the proud new owner of a very underweight red tail, like I needed another one of those, ughh. " He won't right himself, gee I don't know what's wrong with him" My response, "how often do you feed? " his response, "once every 6 weeks like I was told to". My response.... complete silence as I counted to ten before I responded, I almost responded in a nice tone, it was borderline, lol. I got the point across, then he stated that he could not afford to feed it every week, so that is why he did not. SO, HE REALLY KNEW HE WAS SUPPOSED TO FEED WEEKLY!!!! I set him up like one of my kids and he fell for it and spilled his guts. He looked like he has not ever missed a meal, I really loathe people! How we ever became top of the food chain by being so cruel is beyond me.
Another note, I really loathe the people that live there! I got 23 cats trapped before I gave up. I am VERY CRANKY and very tired, and I am sure tomorrow will not be an easy day either. I take them all into the vet in the morning. I think I will come home with about 9, it is that bad! Unless they test positive for any leukemia, feline HIV, and that kind of stuff, then I will have to have a mass burial, that will just frost my butt! (can I say that on here) lol
I am so mad I think I am at a loss for words other than these people are just disgusting! Then the greatest part is they always want to sit around and talk to me while I am trying to work, I just want to tell them, well I cannot say it on here. I am not real polite though and you think they would get the hint!
I had one hillbilly tell me, "you look too prissy to have snakes", my response "why? Because I know what a toothbrush is? ughhh, where do these people breed at? Why do we allow it.
Okay I am so mad that I am just done, I am going to take a valium or something and sleep, if I can sleep through the howling in my garage.
Oh wait, I better pay my fee. This is going to be spendy, lol.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
That boa doesn't sound good at all. I'm glad to hear it's in better hands now. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but be sure to keep that new boa as far away from your other animals, especially wing and prayer, as you can.
While there are tons of reasons snakes can't right themselves, There is always the chance it could be inclusion body disease, or another retrovirus.

Once every SIX weeks? Holy cow. And I bet he fed it prey that was much smaller than he should have been feeding it too. I've heard people say one feeding every other week before, but every six weeks is extreme.

Yeah, I keep telling myself I will move south, but then spring comes again and here I am, sticking it out for another year.
Spokane is kind of like a sucking vortex of doom, try as I might, I can't ever leave this place. Know what I mean?

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
You can move to MA Lace! We have an ocean, mountains in NH which is right next door, indoor climbing places, etc. We even have real seasons! lmao
I haven't read from this thread in forever, but I see that it is 208 pages long, so it is certainly coming along.
