Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
That's almost MORE of a reason to charge. I hate to say it. But if you're in the wedding, I'm willing to bet you are already laying out some financial amounts. Or is your dress, shoes, accessories being comped? Hey, I've been a bridesmaid more than I care and I don't care what anyone says...YOU CAN'T WEAR THAT DRESS ANYWHERE ELSE! I had 5 bridesmaids in my wedding and I told them to wear whatever they had that was black in the closet. You don't make your friends pay for anything that's for you. Just my opinion.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Fair enough point. I AM in the wedding. Dress: $250, Hair/Makeup that day: $50, Bridal shower gift: $30, Bachelorette party: $75
Sheesh.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
You forgot the wedding present you will be expected to give. Ahhh, it seems like it never ends. Which, if they already live together, is almost ridiculous. Wedding presents were meant to help "new couples" set up house. But if you (not you per se) have already been playing house, you shouldn't expect much.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
That I will say, is they don't live together. He lives on his own and she lives with her parents. And of course he has a typical bachelor pad and she often complains how he doesn't have a decent pot or pan to speak of!

Pots and pans? Who needs pots and pans!
Could be worse!
A buddy of mine from high school got married and his new wife's first glimpse into the fridge reveled a slice of pizza (age unknown!) and a 6 pack of beer!

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Ugh! Just have to vent here... My best friend just got back from Iraq and bombed Brett and I with the news that she and her husband (whom we are also friends with) might be getting a divorce. She has barely talked to me since I got that news. I had to find out from her soon to be ex that they decided to actually get the divorce. I finally confronted her today to find out why she hasn't been calling me or returning my e-mails, and was informed that she is mad at me because I am still friends with Peter. I have NEVER been willing to take sides between the two of them. Even before she was deployed when they would fight and she would come down to vent, I would let her vent but wouldn't EVER take sides. I have made it clear since she told me she was thinking about divorcing him that I still wouldn't take sides. Now she thinks I need to choose either her or him. ARG!!!! I won't do it. Why should I change just because SHE is getting a divorce? Not to mention the fact that the guys are close friends too, so am I only allowed to be friends with her and Brett is only allowed to be friends with him? How would that work????? So much for us being best friends!

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
I went through this when I divorced my ex. My ex's brother wanted his wife to cut all ties with me. She told him that we've been friends for 15 years, and she wasn't about to let that go just because of the divorce. I'm sure it was tough for her to do that, and I'm glad she did. Now his brother doesn't have a problem with me either. Time tends to heal these "wounds," and I'm sure she'll come around.
But it stinks to be in the middle!

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Seems we whine quite a bit about relationships here.
Gotta love the immature people who just can't grasp that they might be wrong.
