Plus when you get there you will have a car.... but ah flying is the way!!! whenever I am on trips the driving is the first thing thats gets to me...... dec/jan/feb did 4000 miles. Road cruising included though.
That was extreme though...the trip I leave on now in an hour...only 5 hours

I know what you mean! I do a lot of road trips in my work and it is amazing how much longer the drive back is than the drive up.
The drive up has you full of excitement and expectations.
The drive back is you tired and just ready to get home!

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
I went on a 2 hour photo excursion at noon today, I missed a turn and just got home, it's 10:20 pm.
I don't think I've ever had more people say to me,"Honey, how much gas do you have, because you can't *really* get there from here."

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Situation:
Friends got married 2 months ago. I have been slacking on a wedding present. We went to a party on Saturday, and they were to be there, so I'm sure to get a gift.
Get to Macy's on Saturday, the only thing still on their registry is about $40 more than I wanted to spend, but I got totally wasted and obnoxious at their wedding and I was late with a gift, so I bite the bullet.
Get to the party. See wife isn't there, but Al is. Tell Al I have his wedding gift. An hour later I drag him out to the car and give him the gift.
2 hours after I give him the gift, he sits me down. Shows me his empty ring finger and says they are separated after only 2 months of marriage. Apparently when they signed that paper linking them for life, she changed the rules and what she expected of him. She also waited until this time to tell him she doesn't want children any time soon. Her ideals are not what he wants in life. It was fine before they were married, but she changed.
I want my wedding gift back. I don't think he should have accepted it personally. I'm ticked. I could have spent that $120 on HC. It would have been a better investment IMO. He says he needs it, because he gave her everything and he has nothing. I told him to at least return the 4 very expensive martini glasses and get himself a set of pots and pans.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
The wedding gift was just that, a WEDDING gift. It wasn't a personal gift to him and he was blatantly wrong to have even accepted it!
The fact that he accepted it and then afterwards informed you that the marriage was "cancelled" says a lot for his character, or rather lack of it.
It would also make me wonder about how much of the story of them splitting up was accurate!
Personally I would demand the return of the gift.
But then I take a very dim view of being decieved.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Aren't you supposed to sort this stuff out BEFORE you get married, heck, shouldn't you know these things before you even ASK her to marry you? If you can't put this all out on the table before making the commintment I don't know how anyone could expect it to work.
Also, $120 for four martini glasses? Yikes! Were they diamond studded?
I would politely ask him to return the glasses becasue they were meant for the couple, not for his bachelor pad. He should have been a bigger person and not accepted the gift.
I wouldn't be getting him one for his next wedding, maybe just a card that said, "I hope you enjoy your martini glasses!"

It wouldn't be the first time that once a couple were legally bound that suddenly all the rules changed! You get married and suddenly you are looking at the other thinking "who the heck are YOU!"
I know several couples that, once they got married, one admitted that they really didn't like doing the things together that they had done while dating (like camping out). They just went along with it!
And furthermore, because I don't like it, YOU aren't going to do it anymore either!
"Oh the games people play!"
