Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
Wow! 600 for two tickets from Washington to California?
My mother flies from Oklahoma to California for a couple of hundred!
My grandmother is out there.
Have you checked the online travel sites and looked at different departure days?
That can make a BIG difference!

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
We don't have much stretch room for picking different departure days due to Phil's demanding work schedule. I think the prices are higher because it's a holiday weekend. (Labor Day). I don't mind the idea of driving, he just doesn't seem super keen on it.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
I got our tickets for the OK trip from Ultimatefares.com ad they were about half the price I could find anywhere else. (they do have some steep fees, but then again so do all the sites. It still ends up being a really good deal)

*Cough* I love Road Trips *Cough*
I dunno what we'll end up with, if Phil doesn't get his butt in gear I might go without him. He doesn't know what days he has off for sure yet.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
$300 a ticket does sound steep, I'm flying out from Maryland to San Diego, CA this Tuesday for less then that.

But you are flying on a TUESDAY, and not a holiday... That probably makes a BIG difference.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
I'd imagine, but you're talking a difference of at least 1000 miles, and that's assuming lower Cali.
I'd look around alot before paying $300 a ticket

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread
The price range seems to be $256-$962 per person. It's going to cost about $300 total for gas...but it is 17 hours in the car.
I'm okay with the drive, looks like we'll leave Wednesday, drive 9 hours, stay the night in central Oregon then drive 6 more hours to Sacramento. From there we'll decide if we want to stay with my aunt and uncle or drive 3 more hours to Hollister.
The drive home is what kills me because you just want to be home.
