Re: The Internet's Longest Thread

That's too bad, guys. I'm sorry.

Just to make you jealous it's gorgeous out here today. Warm and windy, but even the wind is a little bit warm. Just enough to cool us down a little. Everything is bright green, too.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread

I'm sooooo happy the leaves finally decided to come out. I missed the green. I was really tired of just seeing sticks.

I Feel Your Pain...
Don't get me wrong, i love camping when its warm and nice out, but if it rains, or snows, its still great, i can't stand it when someone comes along, the weather turns nasty, and all they do is complain about how bad it is outside, i don't think I need it pointed out to me every 15 minutes! lol.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread

Oh yeah, you have no idea...I think shes going to try to stuff my car full of unnecessary gear too.
She offered up her 10 man tent...for the two of us.
I haven't decided if I'm going to take the minimalist approach and only bring my camp stove and my sleeping bag or if I'm going to try o keep her happy to reduce the whining.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread

I'd definitly suggest two one person tents.
Ten person? Those things weigh a ton, plus, do you really want to share a tent with someone whos gonna whine?
I'd Say Bag, tent, stove, therma-rest style sleeping pad, and all weather gear. Maybe tack on a water purifier if you'll be gone long enough, granted, i do more lightweight backpacking then camping, so you may be able to scratch a bit of that.

I seem to have the most fun when I take:
My Osprey Talon Pack, with a prolight thermarest, a Bivy, sleeping bag, raingear, stove, water purifier, the "clothes on my back", and an extra pair of socks, boxers and a t-shirt.
Take more it starts getting too cumbersome, less and im more constrained byt a time limit. Granted, thats usualy when its a bit warmer, when its colder I have to use a bigger pack. All the fun cold weather layers.

I usualy don't take more then I can fit in (and on) my pack, camping or backpacking.
Though camping i'll sometimes take a cooler with better food then the backpacking meals.

Re: The Internet's Longest Thread

Oh yeah this is definite car camping and its only 2 nights in 2 location. On night on an ocean beach and one inland.

I can't sleep in a bivy, too claustrophobic.

I'm fine with the whole 'clothes on my back thing' but she seems to be the 'suitcase' type. I don't know im going to try to find someone else to go with us too, that should make it more tolerable.
