Re: The Internets Longest Thread
<<Popping up out of nowhere to change the subject back to rock climbing>>
Lacey, do you climb outdoors or in? This time of year (and based on the weather commentary) I'm assuming in? The kids and I are taking an intro climbing class at a facility near us, and we are LOVING it! I am acrophobic and expected to be terrified, but I find I am dealing with it. I made it to the top of the tall wall this week (tall for this facility is about 40') -- that was my goal for the class, lol, and now I have 2 more weeks to keep working on doing it better. I am thinking of taking the next class to improve my skills and get training to belay. But the thought of climbing outdoors just sounds kind of scary, lol.
I have been working hard on exercise for just over a year now (and on losing weight for more than 2 years). I have been impressed that at my age (which is not THAT advanced, but I'm a bit of a summer chicken I guess) I have been able to make serious improvements. I never could have climbed that wall a couple of years ago -- I wouldn't have had the upper body strength or the endurance, and the extra 45 pounds would have been a killer! So I guess what I'm saying is, if I can do it at probably twice your age, you can do it! Of course, starting where I did, improvement was about all that could happen, lol! You're already in good shape if you can climb and run. My knee told me it has tendinitis, and running is out for now.
Anyway hi everyone! I have had awful computer problems lately and have not had much of an online life, but I'm still here with all our herps! All the kids who come to our house just love seeing the animals -- we're like a mini-zoo for the local homeschool community, lol!

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Hi Amy!
This time of year we are indoors only, I hate the snow and I'd never be able to afford to ice climb. We've been climbing since January 2007.
I took a hard fall in April and got out of my every other day routine up until November, but we are back on track now.
if you search my photos for "climbing" or "wildwalls" you can see my gym and some of our outdoor stuff on Flickr: Photos from Moshpitrockchick
