Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Get a sheet of hard plastic and sit on it. Talk about zingin' through snow!! It snows very little here. We've had all of 0" but we have had flurries. It gets pretty cold here - in the teens...but there's rarely any significant snow fall. And when there is snow - the stores are out of bread and milk. What do they do with it? Dunno! Maybe soak the bread in the milk if they get flurried in? ;-) Coming from CA I have asked this question lots. I never get an answer that makes sense!

Thats the way it is around here.
The running joke is,...
Bad weather coming?
Get the essentials!
Bread, milk, and toilet paper!

in Baltimore, they call for 1" and you can't find a gallon of milk anywhere.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Around here, too. It's sad. The little couple inches we usually get puts people house-bound for a day - *maybe* - then the snow melts. So why does the bread, milk and toilet paper completely disappear? I'll tell you what, if you don't have enough food or toilet paper in your house to last you *one day* you've probably got problems. Unfortunately, I take after my mother enough to keep the house stocked so in an emergency practically a month could go by without needing more groceries. It comes in handy when I run out of cash. Not enough money for food? No prob. I've got enough to last me another two weeks. (It's sad how often that happens.)
I was just in Frostburg this weekend, and I was told it's pretty common to get a couple of big snows a year. 20" at a time. My grandfather (who was telling me this) was saying all they've gotten this year was a couple of 5" snows. No big deal.
We, on the other hand, barely ever get a 5" snow at all. I can't remember them being much more than 3" for a long time. The worst hazards we usually get (and more dangerous, in my opinion) are the ice storms.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
All this snow talk is so foreign to me... it's snowed here ONCE in my whole (almost) 40 years of life! We can drive about one hour and get to the snow, but then that's a choice.
Snow = Yuck!

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I like snow, actually. I like the look, and the feel it gives the landscape. I also LOVE the smell of fresh snow. It really is beautiful.
What I don't like is the people driving around in it, and really driving in it myself. I need to get a different vehicle if I want to drive in snow a lot. But the snow itself - I'm right at home.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I love the snow and grew up with it. Buffalo, New York is where I originate from and spent 18 years of my life. The ONLY thing that would close down schools, was 2 feet of snow at 4:00 in the morning.
People from Baltimore are dumb.
However, I would rather get 2 feet of snow, than 1/8th an inch of ice any day.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
it doesnt snow that ofeten on this side of the mountains,, but we got about an inch last night and they closed the schools, lol. I was also lucky enough to watch some moron plow into a huge motor home that belongs to the guy across the street from me,, I am so glad I dont have to pay his insurance when they get that claim, lol. Irt was one of those fancy ones that cost over 100,000, lol. How do you plow into something with an inch of snow,, 15 minutes after the snow plow went through,, lol
