okay I am totally grossed out and mad at the same time. As most of you know my oldest son is a wrestler at school. Thursday night he came home from a meet and said,, mom, you remember that thing that I showed you behind my ear a week ago,, now it is oozing and puss and spreading to the rest of my body. I looked was completely grossed out and it was spreading right down his neck, on his chest, in the cracks of his elbows, on his back, etc. Now he had just had three matches and has been wrestling everyday for the last week. I originally told him that it looked like a zit or an ingrown hair, not to worry but have the coach look at it.
Well it was obviously not a zit a week later and it is just grosse. So I called his coach and asked him how he passed the physical body exam the last week with this,, the coach replies that the refs have been doing the exams and to bring him to him immediately so he can look at it. I do,, He takes one three second look at him and replies he has a staph infection and I should take him to the ER immediately as it is now in his glands and that is why it is pooping up all over his bodynow
Now mind you,, he just wrestled three matches and has been wrestling the last week with a ton of other kids from many other schools. I asked the coach how he passed the refs exams in the last week,, he replied he has no idea and will be dealing with that himself. three weeks prior to this we wrestled a scholl where half the team not allowed to wrestle, for an unknown reason (they are not allowed to tell us). But he did wrestle two kids who passed the exam.
I get him to the ER they immediately get him in, scrape the areas for culture,, the doctor stated it looks like MRSA
But will not have a definate answer until he gets the results of the culture. They are treating it like MRSA ,,, but no matter,this kid wrestled not once,not twice, but seven days in a row and passed the physical exams EVERY time. I dont think so. I have a huge problem with this. The amount of kids he has come in contact with is well over 100
OHHH I am fuming that these supposedly trained people could pass him that many times! I obviously need to brush up on my infectious diseases,, but geez I dont do body inspections on a million kids and I am not expected to know what these things are,, THE REFS ARE.....................
