Re: The Internets Longest Thread
work rant!
*steps on soap box*
So, I have been the only graphics person in this office for the past 3 weeks. My boss's husband went into the hospital with blood clots in his lungs 3 weeks ago. He is still in a short term facility working on them. My other co-worker decided to have a mental break down the week after thanksgiving and is out for who knows how long.
My inbox is so full I can't concentrate. Its overwhelming. I'm doing the work of 3 people.
My boss comes back on the 3rd. Her husband is in a long term care facility. She doesn't have to do the care work she was doing. Yet she is still out? I don't get it. When I scheduled a surgery, they WOULD NOT let me go when another person already had vacation planned. My boss would have been the only one there for a week, so I had to put it off for a month. Yet she can leave me, by myself for 3 weeks? Come in one day, or two days even. Just to help out a bit.
*sigh*
/rant - *steps off soap box*

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I used to do my co-workers job and not get paid for it, I finally annoyed her to the point that she quit so I now get paid to do the work of two people and i'm fine with that because the problem wasn't doing extra work it was not gettin any recognition. Now they recognize that work runs so much smoother with out her lazy a** there doing nothing useful.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I had a job like that once. Only I was part time, and they hired another person to do the same job on the hours I didn't work. She was slow to learn anything we tried to show her, always made tons of errors, and would literally fight (yelling and screaming) with my supervisor. But she had been brought it because she was my supervisor's friend.
I'll never forget one time when I had put in for vacation days months in advance, she just waltzed in not too long after she was hired and says she's taking off those days, so I'll have to work. She cited that it was because it was just before a holiday I didn't celebrate, so she should be able to take off, not me. I was so angry. The worst part about it - she would have gotten it. They were going to make me work, except she was "let go" just before the date. She only lasted a few months there, and thank goodness!

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I worked for the state full time at one point. The people there had been there so long that they had total burnout. There is nothing like seeing people do their grocery shopping, paying bills, taking 3 hours for lunch, etc etc on when they are being paid to do a job. Then they complain that their case load is too big and how are they supposed to keep track of it all. My response was maybe if you actually worked when you were paid to you wouldnt miss half the appointments you were supposed to be at. Nothing like watching people slack and sluff things off when the best interest of a child is at stake. I was the only one for teh longest time who would ever answer their beeper(back in the day) or their cell phone after hours, but still expected to show up bright and early with a smile on my face after working and traveling all night. I had enough and quit,, I couldnt take it anymore, and I could never figure out how to leave it at the door, so it caused many at home problems, lol.
I went back to work part time, after a couple of years, and now I like it much better as I work mostly after hours anyway,,, and thankfully it has been pretty much quiet. I am also lucky too as a lot of the work (paperwork)can be done at home. It seems to go in spurts.........
I think the most irratating thing thing I ever heard come out of my supervisors mouth was "well,, you cant save the world, now can you?"
Two years later she was fired for getting busted for a DUI in a state vehicle.... couldnt of happened to a nicer person. .........

One of my co-workers is the same way. Been here 28 years. She got so behind on her work she came close to getting fired. But she didn't. I think everyone is just waiting for her to retire in 2 years.

Well Nichole, you know how it goes.
The kids run off and get married and then don't have time to hang out with their OLD friends!
