Oh dear what have I gotten myself into! LOL!!!!!!!
Let me explain.

I have a friend who is putting on a presentation on Native American culture at an elementary school. They will have a traditional indian storyteller and other tidbits of indian lore. It occured to her that, since I play Native American flutes, that I might be a nice addition to her program.
She asked and without thinking I agreed to it.
Later something occured to me.
I have often played WITH other people, but I have never gotten up in front of an audience and played SOLO!! This is going to be interesting!
I hope I don't get nervous and squeak!
The flute squeak that is!

Well I survived it! I even enjoyed it!
The curtain on the stage opened and I found myself being stared at by several hundred young eyes! I did my speil and played a bit and after it was all over I was mobbed by a bunch of them wanting to know about flutes.
I had a great time and will most likely do it again next year if the opportunity presents itself.
And the biggest surprise came at the end of the event. My friend said she would send me a check! I am actually getting payed for playing my flute!
I thought I was just doing it for the kids for the heck of it!

If you decide you want to do this as a bit of extra income, check with your local library, they often are looking for new programs.
