Re: The Internets Longest Thread
I have bought a few things for Christmas. Not too much yet. Katie has given me her list which surprisingly wasn't too bad. Mostly clothes and anything to do with Green Day or My Chemical Romance. She wanted a "naked cat" but I refused to pay $1000 for a cat. So we relented and took her to get her kitty from the SPCA. She also wants a new cell phone. My family does pollyannas for most of us so I only have a few other presents to buy. Hubby and I don't usually exchange gifts.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Update on my broken ankle....
It has been almost three months and I am still having problems. I have been in constant pain. My employer has been making comments about me still being in pain and insinuating that I am milking my injury which has been really ****ing me off. I started therapy in mid October with no improvement. I actually had more pain since I started therapy. I keep telling the PT person that I am in pain, before during and after thereapy. I kept telling the dr. I am in pain constantly. No one was believing me!!!! I went to my orthopedic dr a few weeks ago and he basically discharged me from his care and he refused to even look at my ankle during the last appointment. I hadn't been real happy with this guy from the very beginning so this was the straw that broke the camels back. I went back to my primary and had her send me to someone else. I went to the new dr. yesterday. He confirmed that I did in fact have a avulsion fracture to my fibula. But he totally disagreed with the treatment that I have received so far. The first dr. had me in a "cam walker" boot and told me I could walk in it without crutches. I wore that for 7 weeks and have since been wearing a small lace up brace that fits inside my sneaker. According to dr. #2 with this injury I should not have walked or put any weight on my foot/ankle for the first three weeks at a minimum! I am going for a MRI on Sunday. Dr. #2 said that I have a tear in my AFT ligament. The MRI will show him whether it is a partial or complete tear. Partial tear I will eventually heal, full tear and I will need surgery! He said all these months walking on it could have caused some permanent damage to my ankle joint! I have never wanted to sue anyone before but to tell you the truth if I end up needing surgery because jacka#@ dr. #1 mistreated my injury I am seriously considering talking to a lawyer. It has caused me to lose a lot of time from work, it has cost me money in dr. and therapy appointment copays, and has really altered how I normally live my life. Grrr.... sorry but I needed to vent a little frustration!!

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Kelly, that totally sucks! I feel so bad for you. Misdiagnosis are the worst thing ever, especially if you should have been getting a different treatment and the current treatment has been making things worse!
I have decided I hate PT. I was going and going and didn't really feel like I was getting much better. Then I had surgery (not for the ankle, something totally unrelated) but I was house/bed bound for a pretty long time. Guess what? While I was out my ankle healed more than during PT. Rest seems to be my best solution to everything. I can't run yet, heck I have a hard time with a quick walk, but I WILL Get there.

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Kelly, ask doc #2 if he's willing to document everything he's stated and if he's willing to testify in court if need be. My uncle had dr issues several years back, and if it hadn't been for other docs testifying to the wrong doing, he'd have been sol.
Hope you start to feel better soon!

Re: The Internets Longest Thread
Kelly, you should definiely talk to a lawyer, no matter what. If Dr. 1 misdiagnosed you to that extent, think of how many other people have undergone the same, or will in the future. This situation definitely needs to be addressed.
If not for a lawsuit, contacting someone who can start an investigation into Dr.1's practice would be something. What happened to you is horrible.
