Problems with Tongue...

err i found a few days ago a chameleon and took him in but i noticed something weird...
seems like her tongue is err... extremely short and well it looks like the soft and long tongue is missing...all i can see when she tries to catch something with it is like the base of the tongue and not the tip or whatsoever...
could she be too young?or is it possible it got ripped out somehow?
and if so is it possible it will grow back eventually?..
(for now im putting crickets with ripped legs next to her so she will calmly eat it without using her tongue..)

I have never encountered a problem like that with Chameleons, quite possibly it got injured somewhere along the way. Can you post pictures of it?

Hi, I`ve never heard of this before, but if the tongue is missing, whether from an inury or a birth defect, (although I doubt it would be a defect), it would make it extremely difficult for the lizard to catch it`s prey. I think you may need to hand feed if the animal will accept that, no, it will not regrow.

Where are you that you "found" a chameleon?
And, no, a broken off tongue will not grow back.
It would take considerable force to break one's tongue off.

Could it really be an anole? A lot of people mistakingly call anoles chameleons here in the south.
