Humidity problems
I have see pictures of a humidifier set up that I am interested in for Clyde's cage. It consists of a ultrasonic humidifier modified with pvc pipe to bring the mist to the top of the cage and then direct it into the cage. The people using this set up seem pleased with it and state their cham likes it. Clyde needs higher humidity than I am currently managing to provide so I am looking at other options. The central heating is just ****ing the moisture out of the house. We have been running a humidifier in the room which helps but I am really looking for something that will keep his cage up around 70-80% during the day. I use misting and have hung damp towels around the cage which helps for a bit but just a little while. Any ideas or thoughts?
I just noticed my post got modified. I wasn't aware that the word I used was a banned word. The ****'s make it look really much, much worse. The word in this case meant: "drawing, taking, removing, or pulling away". This is going a little overboard IMO! The point I was making is the central heating is desiccating the air and my Chameleon is suffering for it!

Your post wasn't modified; there are some words in the system that the forum will not allow, and they are instantly changed, despite what context they may be in.
The product you are talking about sounds pretty cool, any links to one, I don't think I've ever seen what you are describing before. I don't know what else to suggest - you sound like you have tried most things. We make do at the moment with just misting the enclosure of our veiled cham a few times a day, as and when needed. Our house is quite damp anyway, so the lowest I've notice it fall is down to 40%, when we mist the enclosure humidity goes up to about 80%. Throughout the day it will be up and down, and veiled chams don't need as high humidity, so overall it balances itself out.

Hide Clyde it was nothing against you. As Rachel said we have a screen on the forum that filters out certain words or phrases. We realize that it does make it inconvenient at times and there are some words that are perfectly innocent when used in the proper context. But since there are people out there that think its funny to sneak in and post irresponsibly it is unfortunately necessary.
The team here at HerpCenter has made a promise to keep this forum clean and family friendly so that anyone can come here and discuss herps with out worrying about what they or their children will be exposed to. This is just another of our efforts to make sure we fulfill that promise.
The alternative is to have someone watching on the forum 24/7!

Yeah, the same thing happens to cockatoo, ****er fish, etc. It automatically alters them.
As for the humidifier and PVC, I've heard that's a great way to add humidity and its been recommended to me for my basilisk, so I plan to get one when I visit home next.
Well whadya know. It didn't catch cockatoo this time. It usually does. Cockroach too.

I wasn't so upset except that the ***'s made it seem like I had used a word I would not type and might only say if I hit myself with a hammer! Hard!
I just bought a ultrasonic humidifier on line to try the whole thing. Clyde as far a I can tell is a Chamaeleo rudis and not a Chamaeleo bitaeniatus as I was told when I bought him. It doesn't make a big difference since the humidity levels are about the same. In fact the paper with his particular type written on it also had rudis on it. My best guess is they got it backwards and he is a rudis, closely related to a bitaeniatus. Well, I guess it matters to Clyde if I ever decide to breed chams! Both species are called Side Striped it seems.
