Look what came home with us this weekend...

Got him out of the critter keeper and he went up my wife's arm, to her shoulder and then on top of her head for a nice photo-op...

He seems to be doing well - he ate both yesterday and today, and has been licking the leaves under his drip cup.

A capture...

He's not much of a poser, but look at those markings when he will tolerate it - what a handsome boy!

We're having a lot of fun watching him hunt down his crickets, etc. He's not liking me misting him directly yet, but hopefully as he settles in that will come. What wonderful animals they are!!

Congratulations!! You decided to get one then? What kind is it? A panther? How old, big, etc? Def. a boy? Ooh he is a beauty! And eating well, great start! I hope it all goes well for you. Don't hesitate to post more pics! Chams are such wonderful lizards to look at, they are amazing animals!

Just a note, you are not supposed to mist them directly, they don't like it and it's not necessary, Just mist the enclosure around him.

Beautiful! You are sure tempting me!
I have wanted a Cham for some time but am not sure I could keep my grubby little fingers off of it!

Thanks guys! Yes - he is a Panther. Rachel - I had "decided" a long time ago... just had to talk myself into it. He's just over six months old and he's a hybrid - father was 100% Nosy Be and the Mother was supposed to be as well, but with these markings, clearly there is some other "blood" in the line. Re: the misting - Gosh there seems to be various schools of thought there! The worry is, of course, that he does not get enough hydration - on some of the other forums some swear by "indirect/direct" misting and that the chams get used to it and drink in this manner. For now I am misting around him and doing a drip - he seems to be fine with this and coming over, watching the leaves, etc.

Merlin - Go For It!! I have been worried based on the husbandry needs etc, but man are they amazing! So much more fun to watch than the other herps I have right now. It's not a problem to sink myself into it - he's the focal point of the house right now!! Even the dogs like to watch...
