I am sure coming in late to this thread...and I HATE it that this poor little guy was so far sick before you got him.
I do have some pretty important UVB info for chams, though. Do not use anything higher than a 5.0 outside of the screen - or a 2.0 inside the screen. Chams are low-level UVB requiring animals. Strong UVB causes damage at a cellular level - including gravid females. Using a UVB meter on a standard bulb for instance - the lowest level required for keeping an iguana healthy is a reading of 50 uW/cm2. For a cham - between 5-10 for veileds and up to 30 for panthers. I use old bulbs people are ready to throw away for the iguana set-ups (or other high-level user) and use the meter to get the numbers right.
Their skin is much more sensitive requiring less UVB to gain the same results as say a spiny tail would under full-strength UVB. Here's a link that goes into this:
