Re: Question about feeding
I just took some pics of the finished changes today! Give me about 15 minutes and I may get something together real quick. As far as a mister goes...I have one pump with two misting heads (one for each enclosure) - but the pond pump isn't guite strong enough so all I have are dribblers instead of misters...:-D

Re: Question about feeding
So you just took a water pump and had a mister on the end of a tube? that sounds pretty easy to do...just put it on a timer for like 3-4 times a day...I LIKE IT!!!!

Re: Question about feeding
Heh - I thought the whole set-up would be easy, too. A big problem was the fittings. Pond pumps have a large diameter out-flow tube that eventually needs to fit to tubing the size of fish tank tubing (garden misting system tubing). There are connectors made to fit the two together. For me it's been a lot of trial and error and frustration. Now I'm just needing the stronger pump - but funds need to go elsewhere right now. So still misting - some dribbling. The idea was to set it on timers for about a minute 3-5 times a day. The room in there dries out pretty fast with the overhead fan going for circulation in the room. It gets pretty hot an stuffy with 5 full sets of lights on 12 hours a day. I think an small aquarium heater would be a huge plus so they're misted with warm water instead of very cold...
O.K. - it took a lot longer than I thought it would - but in the "Odds and Ends" album is some pictures with descriptions.

Re: Question about feeding
You'll probably pay twice as much for one that doesn't have the power. I went to Lowe's. You need a fairly powerful pump. From what I've read it should push at least 25 PSI. Let me run and look what mine is. It doesn't show PSI from what I could read under water. It just gave me 60Hz which is supposed to go 4' easily. It does - in a dribble.
Here's an article on how to build your own, too. Good luck however you get it done!

Re: Question about feeding
lol, its exactly what I did...and I didnt see her eat, but it was successful. I would just like her to get used to my presence....and not try to hide when I stick my hand in her cage...oh well itll take some time it looks like

Re: Question about feeding
I haven't wrapped mine - but it has given me a good reason to offer something good to these guys. The female readily eats right from the jar if I hold it up for her. I've thought of wrapping it, but the they wouldn't see the crix at all unless directly overhead. The female would probably be ok with it. The male - well...I've been feeding him by "hand" from the jar, too - but it takes him a loooong time to decide it's kosher to eat that way...and my arm gets tired...;-) It is cool though. It's another way to let them see that I come bearing gifts and I ain't all that bad...:-D
