well i think what his problem was is me being gone my neibor didnt know the right way to take care of him.... since i was all new to this i didnt tell him properly. but im thinkin he was dehrdrated and i didnt know you had to take the plastic off of ur uva/uvb light. so im thinkin that helped alot. hes eating much better which im very happy... ive also gotten the little pinhead crickets cause the bigger ones he was havin a problem with.... so hes been eating those like crazy..... he drinks out of the tip of the squirt bottle. so i have to water him alot...... hows ur chameloen doing... ive never seen one get skinny like that.... thats pretty cool. he looks pretty sweet.. that spider tho... im not sure about that...heheheheh..
mine seems to be doing ok. I've been working hard keeping the humidity up. we're having a drought here in georgia plus record high tempertures. It's been a 100 degrees for several days. It even got up to 103 a couple of days. The air is so dry that my aquariums are losing water. I've been misting the enclosure alot plus I have a water dropper. I've been thinking of hanging wet moss in a stocking or something to help with humidity situation.
Greg
thats a good idea. i never thought of that. yeah our temps here r starting to get cold. its been like high 60s low 70s. ur chameloen looks great. i still have never seen one get skiny like that. is that his defense mode???? is he like that all the time
Their defense is to look like part of the tree that they live in. If you looked at him from the side, He's a bout 2.5 inches thick. He's trying to look like a leaf. He won't expose his side unless you stand still for 5 minutes or so and then when you move, He turns around to to look like a small branch. And if you move left or right, he will he will move accordingly to keep the top of his back pointed in your direction. So from the top he looks like stick, from the side he looks like a leaf.
I talked about hanging wet moss with my local pet shop owner. She's real sharp on knowing what one needs to know about all the animals she sells. She said it would be fine as long as there's no mildew build up. She said I could also use sponges. They sell those giant car washing sponges down the street for a buck each. A small bag of sphagnum moss costs about 5 bucks so I think I'll go with the sponges.
Greg
do you have anymore pictures of him??? r all chameleons suppose to do that??? have you ever checked out on eof those reptile fairs or whatever there called?? i kinda wanted to go and see how one was but i wanna find out how they are.. im really intrested to learn more about reptiles.....
