My newest acquisition!

Yeah! I finally got that Veiled Chameleon down at the local Mom and Pop store. Includes a 30"x30"x18" exoterra screened inclosure, 1 regular day bulb, 1 UVA/B flourescent bulb, 1 infrared night bulb, A water dropper, tree limbs to climb on, cypress mulch for a substrate, and one 12 inch veiled chameleon for $250.00 bucks! It even had crickets included.

Neat. Veilds are the best for pets as far as chams go. Be sure you keep a sharp eye and know your stuff, chams are a real handful.

Yeah, I know. I've worked my way up to them. Started off with a Savannah Monitor, then a Ball Python. The more technical they are, The more I find them interesting. Plus, It blows my mind how they can look in two different directions at once! Not to mention their tongue!

Re: My newest acquisition!

It's too sticky and violent to be useful for anything but hunting (the tongue). Cham's aren't just technically hard, they are what I would call a pain in the ***. Seriously, you can do everything right and there will still be a problem. I found that the novelty of chameleons wore off long before I got one (and I still don't have one). Hopefully yours won't be mean or stubborn. At least you did research!

Chams can also be very territorial. Cage maintance at my house is a stand off. One of my male chams earned himself the name Joe pesci. Loveable guy if you farther than 6", outright evil if your any bit near.

Re: My newest acquisition!

Mine used to do that. He was great when he got out of the cage. Until then, he'd look like he would rip off anything that came into that cage.

Chameleons can be very delicate, which is why I think they're often referred to as hard to care for. It just takes a little finesse and a lot of patience dealing with them.
