Azzie, the Jungle Carpet

Recently added, our JC python; Azzie. Azzie was a pet shop return - healthy but I guess the previous owner had life changes. We aren't completely positive of Azzie's sex and we don't know enough, or have enough experience to attempt to "pop." And really? At this point, it doesn't matter - we haven't decided on breeding possibilities yet.

Azzie is a fussy eater - won't touch rats. Not pinkies, not fuzzies - only adult mice. We tried to deke him/her out with a fuzzie - no dice; so adult mice it is. Mortally challenged at this point, although we may look into live feeding, the larger Azzie grows. Breeding mice for the purpose.

Azzie is about 4 feet long, maybe a bit more, at this point. We will try a couple of other methods of convincing him that rats are a good thing and see how it goes...keep your collective fingers crossed, would you?

Re: Azzie, the Jungle Carpet

Very nice JC. From my experience most carpets have a adversion to rats. It tends to get to be a pain as adults will eat up to 3-5 mice in a meal, but most people don't seem to have much luck getting them to change. It's also normal for carpets to reject smaller food items, even hatchlings tend to not eat anything smaller then a fuzzy. Good luck maybe you could have one of the few rat eating Morelia's.

Re: Azzie, the Jungle Carpet

my jungle carpet x diamond is a male. He will eat almost anything, and hecan count. He was fed live at the pet store I got him from, but we only feed frozen. If it's a big rat, there better be two or three. if adult mice 5, if small mice, 8. But no pinkies please lol. He has his picky spots, but biggest was getting him to eat pre-dead. He likes to leave and get "lost", but then shakes and shivers in a ball until you find him and hug him.
